The Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Jakarta Provincial Government have formed a Vocational Committee to address the high number of unemployment in the capital city. This was revealed by the Chairperson of Kadin Jakarta who was re-elected for the 2024-2029 period, Diana Dewi.

"We at Kadin together with the Jakarta Provincial Government have created a Vocational Committee. This Vocational Committee will bring together the business world and schools or universities that will produce labour to match the needs of the industry," said Diana Dewi on the sidelines of Kadin Jakarta's XIV Provincial Conference (Musprov) (12/8/2024).

According to Diana, collaboration between large and small businesses is expected to overcome the problem of unemployment in Jakarta. This collaboration also needs to be done at the school and university level by increasing vocational programmes.

"We want to invite all stakeholders in DKI Jakarta, the problem is the increasing number of unemployment. It is important to have training, then we also need to concentrate more on vocational programmes," said Diana.

The importance of training is a solution to reduce unemployment. The purpose of training is also to create a workforce that suits the needs of the industry.
