Kadin Holds First-ever Provincial Conference (Muprov) in Central Papua, Highlighting the Theme “Bright and Advancing Papua”

Nabire - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held its first-ever Provincial Conference (Musyawarah Provinsi/Muprov) of Central Papua at the Ballroom of the Old Airport Governor's Office in Nabire, Central Papua Province, on Saturday (August 2, 2025).

Carrying the theme “Together with Kadin: United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Bright and Progressive Central Papua”, this Muprov marks a historic milestone as KADIN officially and fully establishes its presence in this newly formed province.

Representing the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, the Vice Chairman for Organizational Affairs, Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko, emphasized that Muprov is not merely a forum to elect new leadership, but also a moment to consolidate the local business sector toward self-reliance.

“For the first time, Kadin is officially and fully established in Central Papua Province, a new region shaping an extraordinary future,” said Taufan.

He also highlighted the abundant natural resources in Central Papua, such as mining and energy, while reminding attendees of broader challenges—not only local, but also national and global—including geopolitical tensions and global economic uncertainties.

“Central Papua is not just a new region—it is rich in various potentials, particularly in mining and energy. However, we must not turn a blind eye to the challenges that exist, not only in Central Papua, but also in Indonesia and the world at large,” Taufan explained.

To support sustainable growth, Taufan said Kadin Indonesia brings four strategic pillars that are considered highly relevant for Central Papua.

The first pillar is self-sufficiency, focusing on local food independence and renewable energy. The second pillar is MSME-driven economic growth, including the development of tour guides and digital marketplaces for Papua’s unique products. The third pillar emphasizes inclusivity, involving youth, mama-mama Papua (Papuan women entrepreneurs), and people with disabilities in the business ecosystem. The fourth pillar is sustainability, highlighting responsible and eco-friendly resource management.

“We are also introducing several quick-win programs that can be synergized with Kadin Central Papua, such as the Gotong Royong Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), joint efforts to renovate uninhabitable homes, and local workforce training,” Taufan added.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman for Membership of Kadin Indonesia and Acting Chair of Kadin Central Papua, Widiyanto Saputro, stated that the Muprov is expected to serve as the first step toward Kadin’s consolidation in Central Papua and to accelerate the region’s economic development.

“We hope this provincial conference can be conducted properly, in line with Kadin Indonesia’s statutes and regulations,” he stated.

Support also came from the Central Papua Provincial Government. Governor Meki Nawipa expressed his appreciation for the Muprov, viewing it as a testament to the commitment to strengthen the business sector and encourage local community participation.

“I express my deepest appreciation for the organization of Muprov as a form of commitment to strengthen globalization and to develop strategic steps in building and expanding the business sector,” said Governor Meki.

“This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved, to grow themselves, support their families, and contribute to the development of this nation through various sectors. Don’t miss that opportunity,” he emphasized.

At the Muprov, Elexander Gobay, a native Papuan, was unanimously elected as the Chairman (Formateur) of Kadin Central Papua for the 2025–2030 term. He will soon form the management board, which will be officially inaugurated by the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia.

As part of the event, Muprov also featured lively side events such as tug-of-war competitions, public entertainment stages, and an MSME exhibition at the Old Airport in Nabire.
