Kadin Holds Inter-sector Meeting and Signs MoU on Agriculture Single Narrative

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for Agriculture held an inter-sectoral consolidation meeting on programmes to be implemented throughout 2024. The meeting was held at Menara Kadin Indonesia, Thursday (32/3/2024).

The following is a review of each sector:

  1. Horticulture is experiencing significant obstacles related to increased imports, so productivity must be increased.
  2. 50% of feed raw materials made from corn can be replaced with wheat. The cause of the decline in maize productivity for animal feed can be attributed to the declining quality of the maize harvest. However, the current supply of animal feed has started to increase.
  3. Currently, Indonesia is the main market for fresh young coconut exports abroad. It is necessary to inform the government regarding the downstream trade system of processed coconut products.
  4. There is a need for massive replanting of oil palm.
  5. Encourage the implementation of the I-PUBERS application to facilitate farmers in obtaining subsidised fertilisers.
  6. The need for accurate data and mapping of farmer locations with 1-2 harvest seasons for productivity improvement programmes such as the provision of targeted subsidies for seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, and good agricultural practices.

Kadin will also focus on the preparation of a single narrative, updating the data every month so that the data needed is up to date.

In this regard, Kadin Indonesia and Katadata collaborate in accelerating food security through accurate and detailed data in order to realise the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045 through a single food narrative "One Data, One Word Food".

The form of cooperation was outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Acting Daily Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi and Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PT Katadata Indonesia, Metta Dharmasaputra (21/3/2024).

Through this collaboration, Katadata is ready to accelerate Indonesian food commodities, become a data centre for national food needs and the government's main reference for policy making with Kadin Indonesia. In addition, both parties also agreed to carry out socialisation and communication programmes to stakeholders related to food commodities.
