Kadin Urges All Parties to Maintain Stability to Ensure Safe Working Conditions

Jakarta - In light of the recent developments in Jakarta and across the country over the past two weeks, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) conveys the following views and appeals:

First, Kadin Indonesia expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. KADIN also extends its sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family of Affan Kurniawan. May the late Affan rest in eternal peace, and may his family be granted strength by Allah SWT during this difficult time.

Kadin also expresses its sympathy for Moh Umar Amirudin, another ojol driver who was seriously injured in the same incident. May Allah SWT grant him a full recovery so he can return to work.

Second, Kadin fully supports the statement of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, who, among other things, called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident on the night of August 28. The President emphasized that all involved officers must be held accountable. He also urged the public to remain calm and place their trust in the government under his leadership. The President pledged to do his best for the people and called on all Indonesians to remain vigilant, as there are always elements that seek to provoke unrest and chaos. The President stated that a chaotic situation benefits no one not the people, not society, and certainly not a nation striving to develop.

Third, Kadin calls on all parties to remain calm. The current economic hardship must be faced collectively by maintaining a secure environment so that everyone can return to work and carry on with daily life. As long as the security situation remains unstable, economic activity will be disrupted, and the negative impact will ultimately be felt by the public. The best way to express aspirations is through dialogue.

Fourth, Kadin urges all authorities and stakeholders to immediately open dialogue with community groups seeking to express their aspirations. Only through respectful, mutual dialogue can both parties understand which aspirations can be fulfilled and which may not yet be possible. Uphold the spirit of Indonesia Inc a spirit of mutual cooperation in every dialogue.

Fifth, Kadin urges all government officials to ensure that every policy, statement, and action genuinely reflects the real conditions currently faced by the people including the psychological strain of economic hardship, low income, rising cost of living, employment challenges, and persistent social inequality. In dealing with these realities, government leaders must act with empathy and sensitivity.

Sixth, Kadin calls on all parties to give the President and his administration the opportunity to carry out their duties and fulfill their political promises to the Indonesian people. Contributing to the maintenance of security and stability is a tangible way to support the government's ability to work effectively.

Kadin invites everyone to foster mutual trust and safeguard national stability. Do not be swayed by various narratives or provocations that threaten national unity. Security and stability are prerequisites for economic development without them, we cannot move forward.
