Jakarta - The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, emphasized the importance of a complementary partnership between Indonesia and Hungary to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, technology, and innovation.
Anin, as he is commonly called, delivered these remarks during his speech at the HunIndo Tech 6.0 Business Forum, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, South Jakarta, on Monday (20/10/2025).
“Hungary possesses extraordinary strengths. For decades, Hungarian expertise in water management and infrastructure has been a valuable complement to Indonesia’s development needs. I believe we don’t have to be equal, but we can complement each other,” Anin said.
He noted that cooperation in water management, infrastructure, and energy technology aligns closely with Indonesia’s government policies, particularly in waste-to-energy initiatives and the green energy transition.
“Through government support for waste-to-energy programs, water management and infrastructure become integral parts of this agenda,” he added.
Amid global uncertainty and economic slowdown, Anin emphasized that partnerships with friendly nations such as Hungary hold strategic significance for Indonesia.
“Having friends like Hungary is highly meaningful for us,” he said, adding that despite global economic challenges, Indonesia continues to record economic growth above 5 percent, a source of national pride recognized internationally.
Anin also highlighted Hungary’s role as a strategic partner for Indonesia in accessing the European Union market, especially in the context of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
“IEU-CEPA is very important to us, as Hungary can serve as a moderator and navigator for Indonesia to reach the EU community of 450 million people, with a GDP comparable to the United States,” he explained.
He pointed out that the partnership could strengthen global supply chains and open substantial opportunities for Indonesian businesses to expand into Central Europe.
Furthermore, Anin stressed the potential for collaboration in digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI), areas closely connected to Indonesia’s youth.
“We have many young people who believe in digitalization. With rapid developments in data centers and AI applications, Hungary can guide us, and we can grow together,” he said.
Anin also expressed appreciation for the HunIndo Tech 6.0 event, which provides a platform for exchanging ideas, innovations, and business opportunities between Indonesia and Hungary.
“Let’s realize this cooperation and show that even if we are not completely equal, we can complement each other,” Anin concluded.
