Tokyo – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) continues to strengthen its economic diplomacy through a strategic collaboration involving Tokyo SMEs, the Japan Bilateral Committee of Kadin Indonesia, Kadin Indonesia's Vice Chair for Agriculture, Kadin Indonesia's Vice Chair for MSMEs, the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin DKI Jakarta), and business partners in Japan to expand market access for Indonesia's leading products.

The meeting, held in Tokyo, Japan, on 31 July 2026, was also attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, underscoring the shared commitment to enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the agriculture and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) sectors.

The collaboration aims to bridge Indonesian businesses with the Japanese market by improving product quality, standardization, certification, business matching, and strengthening distribution networks. Kadin Indonesia is committed to serving as a bridge between Indonesian producers and prospective importers, distributors, and investors in Japan.

On the occasion, Devi Erna Rachmawati, Vice Chair for Agriculture of Kadin Indonesia, emphasized that Japan represents one of the most strategic export markets, with strong demand for high-quality and environmentally sustainable agricultural products.

"This collaboration represents a concrete step by Kadin Indonesia to strengthen the country's export performance. We want to ensure that Indonesian MSME and agricultural products are able to compete in the Japanese market through enhanced quality, innovation, and sustainable business partnerships," said Devi.

During the initial phase, members of Kadin Indonesia's Agriculture Division will prioritize the export of several key commodities, including:

1. Tempeh, a plant-based protein food product that is gaining increasing popularity in international markets.
2. Cocopeat, an environmentally friendly growing medium widely used in the horticulture and greenhouse industries.
3. Organic fertilizers, which support sustainable agriculture and align with Japan's growing trend toward green agriculture.

Beyond expanding trade, the partnership also creates opportunities for investment, technology transfer, downstream industrial development, and capacity building for Indonesian MSMEs to meet international market standards.

Through the synergy among Tokyo SMEs, Kadin Indonesia's Japan Bilateral Committee for Agriculture, Kadin Indonesia's MSME Division, Kadin DKI Jakarta, government stakeholders, and Japanese business partners, the initiative is expected to boost Indonesia's export value while enabling more Indonesian enterprises to successfully enter the Japanese market.

This collaboration forms part of Kadin Indonesia's broader commitment to driving national economic growth by strengthening international trade, empowering MSMEs, and modernizing the agricultural sector, ultimately enhancing Indonesia's competitiveness in the global marketplace.
