Maumere – As a form of concern and solidarity with the victims of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Flores, Chairman of the Sikka Regency Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Harry Jepira, together with Chairman of the Sikka Regency chapter of the Indonesian Chinese Association (PSMTI), Raymundus Sunnur, provided assistance to the families of two victims who died in the disaster.

The assistance was handed over on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA), at dr. T.C. Hillers Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The assistance was provided as an expression of sympathy and moral support for the victims’ families as they cope with grief following the earthquake.

Chairman of Sikka Regency Kadin Harry Jepira said that the business community and community organizations have a social responsibility to be present and provide support to people affected by disasters.

“We are here to express our condolences and provide some assistance to the victims’ families. We hope this assistance can help ease their burden,” Harry said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Sikka Regency PSMTI Raymundus Sunnur said that caring for others is an important part of the spirit of togetherness among the people of Sikka, particularly when facing disasters.

“This assistance is a sign that they are not facing this tragedy alone,” Raymundus said.

Sikka Regency Kadin and Sikka Regency PSMTI expressed their deepest condolences to all the victims’ families and called on the community to remain calm, support one another, and increase vigilance against the possibility of aftershocks.

The assistance distribution was part of the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and mutual cooperation among the people of Sikka in responding to the disaster that struck the Flores region.
