Banjarmasin – The South Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin South Kalimantan) has expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy following the accident involving KM Virgo Transport 8.

As a gesture of concern and solidarity, Chairman of Kadin South Kalimantan Shinta Laksmi Dewi, accompanied by members of the organization’s leadership, visited the Integrated Post at Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin on Saturday (September 19, 2026). The visit was aimed at directly monitoring the response to the incident, including the ongoing search and handling of the victims.

Shinta said Kadin South Kalimantan’s presence at the post was a reflection of the business community’s concern for the public, particularly during a disaster that calls for solidarity and collective support.

“We extend our deepest condolences over this tragedy. Our presence here is a reflection of our concern and support for the victims’ families and all personnel carrying out humanitarian duties. We hope that all victims will be found soon and receive the best possible assistance,” Shinta said.

She added that Kadin South Kalimantan also shared in the grief experienced by the victims and their bereaved families. According to her, the victims were members of the community who worked and struggled every day to provide for their families.

“We also feel as though we are part of the victims’ families. Among them are laborers, logistics workers, breadwinners, economic contributors, and family providers who work every day to support their loved ones. Therefore, Kadin South Kalimantan shares in this grief, extends its deepest condolences, and is here to express our empathy and solidarity with all the victims’ families,” she said.

In addition to providing moral support, Kadin South Kalimantan also distributed logistical assistance at the Integrated Post at Trisakti Port. The assistance consisted of 200 meal packages and bottled drinking water for personnel and teams involved in the response, as well as victims’ families who remain at the post awaiting updates on the search efforts.

Kadin South Kalimantan’s presence at the post is part of its support for all parties involved in responding to the incident, while also strengthening solidarity between the business community and affected communities.

Previously, KM Virgo Transport 8 was involved in an accident in the waters off Masalembo in the Java Sea on Sunday, September 13, 2026, while en route to Banjarmasin.
