Kadin Involves Associations to Draft Economic Development White Paper

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a coordination meeting with hundreds of industry associations that are extraordinary members (ALB) of Kadin Indonesia to compile a white paper containing business proposals for the 2024-2029 economic development programme.

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Arsjad Rasjid explained that the white paper contains proposals and input from business people, investors and academics, regarding strategic economic issues related to economic development in the next five years.

"The preparation of the white paper this time will apply the principles of gotong royong and collaboration, by prioritising the principle of no one left behind, not leaving anyone behind. We invite extraordinary members of Kadin to participate in the preparation of the White Paper by providing input in focus group discussions and submitting the results of study reports and surveys,’ said Arsjad at Hotel Mulia, South Jakarta (22/7/2024).

Arsjad added that today's event is also a synergy of the business world in supporting national economic development. As the parent organisation that accommodates the business world as well as a strategic partner of the government, Kadin Indonesia is ready to work together to succeed the 2025-2029 economic development program in order to encourage national economic growth and realise the ideals of the Golden Indonesia 2045.

Not only that, Arsjad said there were three issues to focus on, namely the optimisation of strategic sectors that can drive growth, strengthening the capacity of national MSMEs, and improving the welfare of the middle class. The ability to overcome these three issues will also determine success in achieving the ideals of the Golden Indonesia 2045.

With the economic policy white paper, Kadin hopes to strengthen and succeed the 2025-2029 development programme, as well as encourage the implementation of the astacita and 17 priority programmes of the elected president and vice president pair, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This initiative also confirms Kadin Indonesia's commitment to the government in realising the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.

In addition to discussing the preparation of the economic development whitepaper, the coordination meeting of the ALB Kadin Indonesia association was also filled with the agenda of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the Association Synergy Pilot Project between the Mall Association and 8 Mall Support Associations.

"Today's meeting is also a follow-up to the ALB Forum held during the National Meeting. Alhamdulillah, nowadays, more and more associations are joining Kadin Indonesia. At least currently there are 221 associations or an increase of 78%, compared to only 124 associations when I first took office in 2021. This means that there is more support and trust given to Kadin Indonesia,’ said Arsjad.
