Kadin Net Zero Hub, an initiative of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), has taken a significant step to support Indonesian businesses in the transition to net zero emissions by joining the "Race to Zero" campaign as an Accelerator.

Race to Zero is the largest campaign of its kind to galvanise nongovernmental actors to take immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030, with more than 13,500 members worldwide.

"We are thrilled to have Kadin Net Zero Hub join as Race to Zero's newest Accelerator," said H.E. Razan Al Mubarak, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28. "As Indonesia's first private sector-led body, Kadin Net Zero Hub will help create the enabling environment necessary for businesses - from heavy industry to MSMEs - to take urgent and immediate climate action."

After passing several selection stages, in January 2024, Kadin Net Zero Hub was named one of the 30+ selected Accelerators of the Race to Zero campaign by committing to the following criteria:

Pledge: Pledge to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and contribute to halving emissions by 2030.

Plan: Publish a transition plan outlining the actions you will take by 2030.

Proceed: Taking action to achieve net zero, in line with our targets and contributing to the Breakthroughs sector.

Publish: Publicise our progress towards targets and actions, contributing to the UN Global Climate Action Portal.

Influence (Persuade): Align our policies and engagement, including membership associations, with the goal of halving emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050.

"The existence of this assistance programme is very important for companies committed to achieving net zero," said Dharsono Hartono, Chair of the Kadin Net Zero Hub Programme. "Kadin Net Zero Hub will help measure, identify and implement these companies' plans to reduce emissions."

Aligned with Indonesia's target to reach net zero by 2060, the Kadin Net Zero Hub, as an Accelerator, will:

Provide a platform for knowledge and information exchange among the national private sector.
Help broaden insights and share resources to realise a low-emission ecosystem.
Support Indonesian companies in measuring, identifying, and implementing their emission reduction plans.

Furthermore, in February 2024, Kadin Net Zero Hub participated in its first meeting with all other Race to Zero Accelerators. This important meeting provided a valuable opportunity for Kadin Net Zero Hub not only to connect and network with other leading organisations committed to climate action, but also to share its innovative initiatives and best practices with a global audience. This exchange of knowledge and experience aims to strengthen the Race to Zero campaign's collective efforts in achieving its ambitious goal of halving global emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050.
