Kadin Receives Visit from Belarusian Foreign Minister, Discusses Opportunities for Fertilizer, Drone, and Heavy Equipment Industrialization in Indonesia

Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, along with Kadin Vice Chairman for International Relations Bernardino M. Vega and Chairman of Kadin's Indonesia Russia-Belarus Bilateral Committee Didit Ratam, welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, and a delegation of Belarusian business leaders at the Kadin Tower in South Jakarta on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).

Anindya, who is familiarly known as Anin, described the meeting as warm and productive, with discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in the fertilizer, heavy machinery, and human capital sectors.

“We see that Belarus is very strong in the fertilizer industry. In fact, the Foreign Minister expressed their desire not only to trade but also to establish fertilizer manufacturing facilities in Indonesia. This aligns closely with President Prabowo’s priority on food security,” said Anin.

In addition to fertilizer, Anin highlighted Belarus's competitive edge in heavy equipment, including tractors and trucks, which are essential to supporting Indonesia’s industrialization efforts.

He believes that such cooperation could bring significant added value to Indonesia and further the country's transformation from a raw material exporter to a technology-based industrial nation.

“We are opening trade as widely as possible westward with the United States and the European Union, and eastward with China, Russia, and Belarus. This is part of Kadin’s effort to seize the momentum of solid economic growth, which reached 5.12% in the second quarter,” he added.

On the same occasion, Anin also emphasized the importance of strengthening human resources through vocational education. He encouraged Belarus to collaborate in developing technical skills, especially given Belarus’s technological strengths in industrial and defense sectors.

“I asked the Foreign Minister of Belarus to consider enhancing our vocational education system, so we can produce skilled labor to support national industrial transformation,” Anin stated.

Meanwhile, Kadin Vice Chairman for International Relations, Bernardino M. Vega, added that Indonesia’s cooperation with Eurasian countries will become increasingly strategic going forward.

“There is a proposal to establish an EU–Indonesia Business Council to support the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union. This could mark a new chapter in Indonesia’s cooperation with Eastern Europe,” he said.

Additionally, Chairman of Kadin’s Russia-Belarus Bilateral Committee, Didit Ratam, noted that Belarus possesses deep expertise in agriculture and supporting technologies, ranging from agricultural drones to IT systems for smart farming. He pointed out that Indonesia could explore cooperation in a wide array of sectors, including defense and advanced technologies.

“Complex fertilizers, heavy equipment, precision agriculture, and even defense technologies like drones and guided missiles these are areas where Belarus excels. There’s a broad spectrum of potential collaboration,” Didit concluded.
