Your Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Honorable Ministers and members of the delegations from both governments.

First of all, I would like to extend once again a warm welcome to Your Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jakarta. It is a great honor for me, as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, to welcome Your Excellency back to Indonesia—a country that has long been a close friend of the Indian nation. We share a deep and long-standing cultural and historical background. Therefore, this visit is, once again, a testament to our shared desire to continually nurture this friendship and cooperation.

Today, as the President of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my gratitude to Your Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi for graciously accepting the highest civilian honor of the Republic of Indonesia, namely the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna (The Star of the Republic of Indonesia Adipurna).

We are deeply grateful that Prime Minister Modi has consented to receive this honor. This award is presented in recognition of his outstanding leadership and his contributions to strengthening Indonesia-India relations to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as his continuous efforts to enhance cooperative ties between Indonesia and India. It is also an expression of gratitude for his support toward various programs and projects that have aided Indonesia's development.

Previously, this same prestigious honor was also bestowed upon the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, in appreciation of his immense role in strengthening Indonesia-India relations and his contribution as one of the pioneers and founders of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Prime Minister Modi's visit this time marks a historic milestone. This visit reflects the commitment of both countries to continually advance our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through concrete and mutually beneficial cooperation. Earlier, we also expressed our gratitude for India's support regarding Indonesia's permanent membership in BRICS.

Distinguished Guests,

Prime Minister Modi and I have held an intensive, highly productive, and forward-looking meeting concerning a number of strategic issues of mutual interest to both countries.

In the political field, we agreed to further strengthen our partnership by increasing the intensity of high-level exchange visits, fostering closer coordination within bilateral consultation mechanisms, and strengthening cooperation between institutions, including Think Tanks and the newly established Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

We also reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation. Both countries have also agreed to enhance security cooperation through the Third India-Indonesia Security Dialogue.

In tandem with the rising challenges of transnational security issues, we are committed to deepening capacity-building cooperation in the fields of emerging technologies, combating transnational crime, and developing digital infrastructure.

People-to-people relations between our two countries will also grow closer with enhanced connectivity. To this end, I express my support for the development of ports in India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as the development and construction of the Sabang Port in Aceh as a strategic link between Sabang Island and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India.

Both countries view economic cooperation as one of the main pillars of our bilateral relations. Therefore, we are committed to significantly boosting bilateral trade by accelerating discussions on the Indonesia-India Preferential Trade Agreement and reviewing the upgrading of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA).

To strengthen cooperation in the financial sector, we welcome the progress in discussions on the Cross-Border QR Payment Linkage between Indonesia and India. This system is expected to increase transaction efficiency while strengthening the resilience of the financial sector. Amidst the current global situation, we also encourage the strengthening of cooperation in energy security, including the development of solar power projects, as well as the exchange of technology and capacity in nuclear technology.

Moving forward, we are also committed to deepening cooperation in the healthcare sector and look forward to expanding capacity-building opportunities for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

In this regard, we welcome the restoration and conservation of the Prambanan Temple compound, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as the designation of the years 2026-2027 as the Tagore-Dewantara Years for Indonesia-India cultural and educational diplomacy.

These various initiatives reflect the long-standing civilizational ties between Indonesia and India. At the same time, we are determined to enhance cooperation in education, research and technology, culture, and people-to-people contact.

In the field of education, both Prime Minister Modi and I support the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management campus, the possibility of an Indian Institute of Technology campus in Indonesia, and increasing the number of Indonesian students studying in India. We are confident that these agreements can be implemented swiftly to deliver real results and benefits for the peoples of both nations.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Prime Minister Modi and I exchanged views on various regional and global issues. We continue to support efforts to advance world peace and stability, and to ensure that the voices of the Global South are heard.

Regionally, Indonesia and India remain committed to fostering an Indo-Pacific region that is free, open, transparent, and rules-based under international law, while maintaining ASEAN centrality. Both countries also continue to support dialogue, diplomacy, and international law for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East region.

Your Excellency Prime Minister Modi, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Once again, I express my highest appreciation for Your Excellency's visit to Indonesia. I am confident that this will result in a closer friendship, deeper trust, and tangible value for both our peoples.

We are two of the world's largest democracies. India is now the most populous country in the world, and Indonesia is the fourth. Therefore, cooperation between the two of us will undoubtedly bring good to the region.

Let us continue to move forward together, building an ever-stronger partnership for a more prosperous future for the people of Indonesia and India.
