Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, met with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK), Pratikno, at the PMK Ministry Office on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The meeting focused on cross-sector collaboration to promote sustainable human development, including stronger synergy between businesses and higher education institutions.
Anindya—commonly known as Anin—emphasized the importance of aligning economic development with social welfare.
“Today’s discussion with Minister Pratikno covered, among other things, human resource development, higher education, and its connection with industry—especially in the context of an economy aiming to generate new jobs,” said Anin.
He added that economic advancement cannot be separated from the quality of social life.
“It’s all interconnected. The economy is the upstream driver, while the downstream goal is a well-maintained and thriving social life,” he noted.
The topics covered during the meeting included education, research, healthcare, and philanthropy.
According to Anin, Kadin’s role goes beyond the economic realm—it also considers how economic growth can be used as a tool to uplift societal welfare.
“Kadin’s responsibility is not only about the economy. It’s about how we ensure the economy serves as a catalyst for improving people’s lives,” he explained.
As for concrete initiatives between Kadin and the PMK Ministry, Anin shared that several programs are currently being developed.
“We’re still formulating the details. It’s not just about channeling students from campuses to industry, but also bringing industry into the campuses,” Anin said.
He also touched on Indonesia’s potential to contribute to global solutions through philanthropic leadership.
“Indonesia, with its many challenges but also many solutions, has the potential to become a global leader—especially in philanthropy, as we’ve seen recently with initiatives like those involving Bill Gates. These are significant contributions aimed at societal well-being,” Anin concluded.
