Through the Kadin Impact Award, the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid, encourages Kadin throughout Indonesia to explore the economic potential and talent of the region by showing various excellent programs related to the development of MSMEs. With the theme "One Kadin Builds the Nation," this event is a form of Kadin Indonesia's appreciation for Kadin at the provincial, district and city levels that have developed programs with positive economic and social impacts.
Kadin Indonesia continued the series of visits in the context of judging the Kadin Impact Award to Kadin Aceh, which submitted the Aceh Onion Consortium program. This program has had a positive impact through coaching farmers in cultivating onions and contributing to building a sustainable community to provide significant economic benefits.
"Kadin Indonesia appreciates Kadin Aceh for their innovative program that has made a real impact in the development of the agricultural sector, especially in onion cultivation. Through the Kadin Impact Award, Kadin Indonesia is committed to continuing to encourage Indonesian business actors in advancing the regional economy for national economic growth," said Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid.
The Aceh Onion Consortium, through innovative and sustainable approaches, has succeeded in making onions a price stabilizer in Aceh province. From the efforts made by the Consortium through a system of regulating planting patterns and providing cold storage in partnership with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the very high price of onions has been reduced.
"With the planting schedule, the price of onions has dropped by 65% to IDR 25,000 at the end of July 2022 compared to IDR 70,000 previously. The initiatives taken by the Aceh Onion Consortium have succeeded in creating price stability and ensuring an adequate supply of onions for the community, thus making a significant contribution in maintaining the inflation rate in the province of Aceh," said Zakaria A. Gani as Chairman of the Aceh Onion Consortium.
Another positive impact of the Aceh Onion Consortium is also seen in the opening of new jobs for local residents through the two management patterns applied, namely Core Farms and Plasma Farms. PT Malina Jaya Sakti, as the head of the onion consortium, is targeting to open 1,000 hectares of land in Pidie and Pidie Jaya.
With Aceh's population reaching 5 million, it is projected that around 29% of the population will be absorbed in the agricultural sector. This provides a significant solution in creating new jobs and improving the welfare of local communities.
"We hope to make a positive contribution by being part of the Kadin Impact Award through the Aceh Onion Consortium program. This program has proven its success in addressing the challenges faced by farmers and businesses in Aceh, as well as making a positive contribution to the regional economy. We are committed to continue developing this program and working with various parties to create new jobs, improve people's welfare, and strengthen the agricultural sector in Aceh," said M. Iqbal, Chairman of Kadin Aceh Province.
The Aceh Onion Consortium initiative is clear evidence of the positive impact of KadinAceh and Kadin Indonesia's role in continuing to encourage innovation and sustainable economic development throughout Indonesia. Kadin Indonesia is committed to continuing to support and recognize efforts that contribute to realizing the vision of "One Kadin Building the Nation".
"Kadin Indonesia is proud to support innovative programs from Provincial, City, and District Kadins. The Aceh Onion Consortium is a great example of how inclusive collaboration can positively impact the regional economy. I therefore warmly welcome Kadin Aceh's collaboration with PT Malina Jaya Sakti, Bapanas, Baitul Mal, Unsyiah, and plasma farmers. I hope this initiative can be expanded and replicated in other regions," Arsjad concluded.
