Kadin Chairman: Economic Resilience and Mutual Cooperation Are Key to Navigating the New Normal Economy

Jakarta – Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie emphasized the importance of national economic resilience in navigating geopolitical dynamics, slowing global trade, technological disruption, and various external pressures affecting the domestic economy.

Anindya, popularly known as Anin, delivered the remarks during a session titled “Kadin Indonesia and the Challenges of the New Normal Economy: Working Together Toward an Advanced Indonesia” for participants of the 121st Collaborative National Values Strengthening Program (PPNK) of the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhannas RI) in 2026. The program carried the theme “Building National Self-Reliance Through Astacita to Realize Golden Indonesia 2045” and took place at the Trigatra Building, Lemhannas RI, in Central Jakarta, on Saturday (October 10, 2026).

“Economic resilience is extremely important and must be maintained,” Anin said.

Anin explained that economic resilience was a key aspect that needed to be strengthened through contributions from the business sector. He emphasized that Kadin was mandated to play a role in the national economy under Law No. 1 of 1987 on Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Anin further noted that the current global geopolitical landscape was marked by rising uncertainty, directly affecting economic activity. Tensions in various regions, including the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, have driven up energy prices and logistics costs, ultimately affecting Indonesia’s economy.

“Geopolitics today is no longer just a matter for diplomats and the military. It has become a matter for businesses as well,” Anin said.

Anin outlined six external pressures affecting the national economy: geopolitical turbulence and energy prices, supply chain disruptions, trade wars, slowing global trade, investment competition, and technological disruption.

In the energy sector, Anin highlighted fluctuations in global oil prices, which have increased uncertainty for businesses while adding to the government’s energy subsidy burden. Meanwhile, disruptions to international shipping routes have raised transportation and insurance costs, affecting the smooth flow of trade.

Further pressures stem from trade wars and protectionist policies that could hamper Indonesian exports. Amid slowing global trade, Anin added, competition to attract investment was also intensifying as countries offered incentives and greater business certainty to improve their investment appeal.

At the same time, advances in artificial intelligence and the semiconductor industry present both opportunities and challenges for Indonesia. According to Anin, the country’s ability to enter technology-based global value chains will be a key factor in strengthening national economic competitiveness.

“These global pressures are also reflected in domestic business conditions. The weakening rupiah and contraction in manufacturing activity are among the challenges that need to be anticipated,” Anin said.

Anin also encouraged participants of the 121st PPNK program to apply the national values and national resilience principles they had learned throughout the program within their respective companies. He expressed hope that these values would serve as a foundation for the business community to contribute to strengthening the economy and advancing the nation.

“Lemhannas has taught you about national values and national resilience. Take those lessons back to your respective companies and use them to advance the economy and the nation,” Anin said.

Titi Khoiriah, Head of Kadin Indonesia’s Islamic Economic and Finance Development Agency, was elected Chairperson of the 121st Collaborative PPNK cohort at Lemhannas RI in 2026.

Meanwhile, Head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom RI) Syahganda Nainggolan, who also attended the event to present President Prabowo Subianto’s vision and mission, said the government was working to ensure that the President’s policy direction and programs were clearly understood by the business community, particularly Kadin members.

“As the Prabowo-Gibran administration approaches its second anniversary, we want to ensure that the President’s ideas and programs can be explained to our colleagues at Kadin,” Syahganda said.

He explained that discussions with Kadin also provided an opportunity for the government to hear feedback and concerns from businesspeople, including those related to future economic certainty and the impact of various issues that could affect business activities.

As head of Bakom RI, Syahganda said the feedback would be compiled and conveyed to relevant stakeholders within the government.

He also praised Kadin for its extensive network of entrepreneurs across Indonesia’s regions, saying the organization could help the government disseminate information and bridge communication with the business community.

During the session, Syahganda also discussed the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. He asked the media to take note of Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie’s views on the program’s impact on public welfare, based on the experience Anin had shared during the discussion.

“Anin himself, as the Chairman of Kadin and a business practitioner, has said that although the MBG program has often been described negatively, his experience shows that it has had a very positive impact on public welfare,” Syahganda concluded.

The 121st Collaborative PPNK program at Lemhannas RI ran from October 6 to 12, 2026, and was attended by 105 participants, most of whom were Kadin Indonesia member entrepreneurs from various regions.
