Visit Bali, Arsjad Rasjid: Kadin Bali creates Irrigation Distribution Management to Improve the Quality of Bali's Agricultural Production

Kadin Indonesia continues to be committed to exploring the economic potential and talent of the region by showcasing various excellent programmes in the appreciation programme Kadin Impact Award. With the theme "One Kadin Builds the Nation," this event is a form of appreciation from Kadin Indonesia to Kadin at the provincial, district and city levels that have successfully developed programmes with positive economic and social impacts. One example is Kadin Bali, which has created an innovative programme with positive impacts in the agricultural sector. The Organic Farmer Group Programme in the Bali Subak System has provided meaningful guidance to local farmers in overcoming the challenges they have been facing.

In this programme, Kadin Bali has implemented a holistic mentoring concept. Starting from counselling to agricultural actors, education and training on agricultural patterns, synergy with local governments, to providing a marketing system through e-commerce. The Organic Farmer Group Programme in Bali's Subak System has opened up opportunities for farmers to improve their knowledge and skills, so that they can overcome the challenges they have been facing more effectively.

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid expressed his appreciation for Kadin Bali's contribution to regional economic development through fostering sustainable agriculture practices. Arsjad saw Kadin Bali's commitment in supporting the growth and progress of the agricultural sector in Indonesia through the preservation of the Balinese Subak system which is now a UNESCO cultural heritage.

"Kadin sees that the Organic Pattern Farmer Group Programme and also the Bali Subak System have succeeded in advancing the sustainable agricultural sector in Bali Province. This is a very good form of mutual cooperation economy. I hope this programme can be an inspiration for other regions to implement sustainable agriculture," said Arsjad.

One of the collaborations that became a milestone in the success of Pos Banjar in the Bali Subak System is the Organic Pattern Farmer Group which succeeded in building awareness of the mindset of farmers and land cultivators more deeply about land cultivation and the selection of superior seeds, and improving crop quality. This collaboration has also significantly benefited the increase in yields from the agricultural sector as well as the optimisation of subak functions, where the selling price of unhulled rice has more than doubled in the last two years.

"Maintaining environmental sustainability is the shared responsibility of stakeholders in Indonesia. Kadin Indonesia hopes that the government, business actors, society, and the environmental community can work together in formulating and implementing policies and measures that favour environmental sustainability," Silverius added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Bali Province, I Made Ariandi, also explained that in addition to increasing crop yields, a stable agricultural pattern also has a positive impact on the regional economy in the long run. With an in-depth understanding of agriculture, agricultural actors not only have product knowledge, but also financial knowledge and connections with distributors, so that their produce can be marketed at a premium standard that suits the market.

Extensive marketing and sales not only benefit the businesses, but also contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of the regional economy.

"In this farming pattern, not only the increase in crop yields is the focus, but also the sustainability of the entire value chain from upstream to downstream. Agricultural actors involved in this stable farming pattern not only have knowledge of agricultural products, but also a deep financial understanding. They have an awareness of the importance of managing the financial and investment aspects of farming, so as to optimise expenses and income effectively," Ariandi explained.

Kadin Indonesia hopes that the excellent programmes carried out by regional business actors can continue to provide tangible evidence of positive contributions to regional and national economic growth. Kadin Indonesia invites all parties, including the government, business actors, society, and the agricultural community, to work together towards a sustainable and inclusive future.

"Kadin Indonesia appreciates the initiative of Kadin Bali and Pos Banjar in the Bali Subak System as a step forward that should be emulated by other regions. Innovative programmes like this not only contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector but also embody aspects of sustainability and inclusiveness in a closed-loop model. With an approach that involves various parties, Kadin Indonesia continues to be committed to supporting and strengthening business networks in order to realise a shared vision in building the nation through the agricultural sector," Arsjad concluded.
