Building and area management must be carried out properly and correctly through facilities management. Unfortunately, not many businesses in Indonesia have implemented facilities management.
This became the focus of discussion in the National Seminar and Level of Service (LoS) Socialisation organised by KAMAJAYA in collaboration with the IKN Authority, Kadin, and Inkindo at the Auditorium Campus 2 Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, Saturday (16/3/2024). KAMAJAYA is a forum for Alumni of Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta.
The seminar focused on facility management which includes setting service level standards, measuring and evaluating Level of Service (LoS) in the management of buildings and areas of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN). By setting better service standards, it is expected that there will be significant improvements in the management of facilities, infrastructure and urban services in IKN.
Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Public Works, Housing and Infrastructure, Insannul Kamil said that the development of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) could be the key to unlocking the development of the facilities management business sector, which is still lagging behind developed countries and neighbours that have developed rapidly.
Insannul also emphasised the importance of increasing the capacity of human resources in the construction industry sector as a driver of the progress of Small and Medium Construction Services Business Entities that are not yet competitive and need more serious attention from the government. "IKN must certainly provide opportunities for all construction service business entities to participate on condition that they meet the standards set by the government, this needs to be encouraged," he said.
He added that the construction sector business in Indonesia showed a positive stretch and became one of the main supporting sectors for national economic growth. This is characterised by the increasing value of construction projects, both from the government and private sectors.
"It needs the support of the government and all stakeholders of the construction industry business sector to improve the human resources of the construction sector by increasing the quality and quantity of certified construction experts and skilled workers, so that they will be able to meet the standards set," said Insannul.
