Government Collaborates with Kadin to Develop Link and Match Model between Vocational Schools and Tourism Industry

As part of the effort to strengthen the synergy of the implementation of linkage and alignment policies between vocational education and the industrial sector, involving Vocational High Schools (SMK) and the tourism industry, it is necessary to conduct thorough research and information gathering. Therefore, the Directorate General of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture organised a Focused Discussion on the Development of Collaboration Models in the Framework of Link and Match between Vocational Schools and the Tourism Industry.

The discussion was attended by the Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Parekraf, Regional Governments of DKI Jakarta and D.I Yogyakarta, several Tourism Vocational Schools, and industry elements from PHRI, PT Metropolitan Golden Manajemen, Horison Industrial Class, and Kadin Indonesia represented by Wisnu Wibowo as Chairman of the Vocational Education Committee.

The strategic role of Vocational High Schools (SMK) lies in its preparation in providing skilled labour for various industrial sectors, including the tourism industry. The Link and match programme is aimed at improving the quality and relevance of SMK graduates, as well as meeting the demands of the labour market, between SMK and the tourism industry sector.

The objective of this policy is to facilitate strong cooperation between SMKs and the tourism industry in the implementation of education and training programmes. This is so that SMK graduates can have skills that are in line with the needs of the tourism industry.

Analysing the elements that contribute to the development of Collaborative Platforms in implementing link and match policies is also the main objective of this discussion. The design of an appropriate Collaborative Platform model should also be applied to facilitate the linkage between SMK and the World of Business and Industry (DUDI) in Indonesia's tourism sector.

Wisnu Wibowo, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Vocational Education of Kadin Indonesia expressed his appreciation for this discussion. In accordance with Permenko No.5 Year 2022, the establishment of the Vocational Regional Coordination Team (TKDV) is a forum for vocational actors in the regions to coordinate and collaborate with each other. In addition, if there is a lack of synchronisation in the field, for example the length of students' PKL period, then this is a harmonisation of regulations that are less relevant. As an alternative to financing vocational activities, the Super Tax Deduction programme can also be utilised.

It is hoped that this study can get a concrete picture related to the implementation of industrial classes. This study is also a policy formulation in the Vocational Education environment with a focus on Vocational School Development.
