Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) for Agriculture Devi Erna Rachmawati and Deputy Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Agriculture Cecep Muhammad Wahyudin received a delegation from Uruguay led by Valeria Csukasi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay; Matías Carámbula, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay; and Cristina González, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Indonesia, at Menara Kadin Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Thursday (August 19, 2026).

Indonesia and Uruguay have significant potential to develop a strategic partnership in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

One of the key opportunities lies in cooperation in the dairy industry. Indonesia continues to strengthen domestic beef and milk production, creating opportunities for Uruguay to collaborate in livestock breeding and genetics, dairy cattle farming, feed development, animal health, meat processing, and dairy processing industries.

Such cooperation is expected to encourage investment, technology transfer, and the development of production capacity in Indonesia.

At the same time, Indonesia has significant potential to increase agricultural exports to Uruguay and expand market access across Latin America. Potential products include tropical fruits, coffee, cocoa, spices, coconut-based products, palm oil-based products, biofertilizers, organic fertilizers, and various other value-added agricultural products.

Another strategic area is collaboration in agricultural technology and research. Indonesia and Uruguay can promote joint research in biotechnology, biofertilizers, precision agriculture, climate-smart farming, livestock productivity enhancement, agricultural mechanization, and digital traceability systems.

To accelerate the implementation of cooperation, the two countries can develop business matching, joint ventures, research partnerships, technology exchanges, and investment opportunities involving the government, private sector, universities, research institutions, and farmers.
