Hambalang - President Prabowo Subianto urged the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to support the concept of Indonesia Incorporated (Indonesia Inc.) to accelerate the realization of the ideals of Indonesia’s independence proclamation a prosperous, just, and affluent society. He emphasized that no Indonesian citizen should live below the poverty line. Medium and large business actors must assist small and micro enterprises as well as marginalized communities.
“Medium-sized businesses, especially the large ones, can already operate independently without government assistance. My (government’s) task is to help the small, micro, and the underprivileged,” said the President in Hambalang on Friday (August 8, 2025), as he sent off 230 Kadin members departing for the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.
For about two hours from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Western Indonesian Time, the President delivered a briefing on national insight and the crucial role of Kadin’s business members in realizing the goals of independence — a prosperous, just, and affluent Indonesia. No Indonesian should remain under the poverty line.
The President urged Kadin members to not only focus on their own interests or business groups but also consider the fate of fellow citizens who are still left behind, living in poverty or extreme poverty.
“It is not good for the nation if only some of us are prosperous and wealthy while many others live in hardship. If this condition is left unaddressed, all parties will suffer due to inevitable social problems,” the President warned.
“If all the people prosper, your businesses will also perform better. The economy will grow faster because more people will buy your products, shop at malls, buy properties, and so forth,” said the President. Helping the small and underprivileged to advance is part of the spirit of Indonesia Inc.
The government, he continued, is implementing various programs to improve people’s welfare and eradicate poverty. The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program not only prepares a healthy and smart generation but also stimulates the local economy. Besides MBG, the government is rolling out programs such as 3 million housing units, the establishment of 80,081 red-and-white village/urban cooperatives, free health check-ups, and protection for migrant workers.
The President also expressed great attention to rural development. Alongside accelerating agricultural development, the government plans to build solar power plants in every village. On one hectare of land, solar panels will be installed above, with horticulture and fish farming cultivated beneath.
The President appreciated Kadin members for taking time to attend the retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang to absorb patriotism and national insight values. “I hope this retreat produces entrepreneurial fighters who work in the spirit of Indonesia Incorporated,” said the President.
Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Novyan Bakrie appreciated the President’s willingness to take time amid his busy schedule to provide guidance on national insight to Kadin members and leaders from central to regional levels. He affirmed Kadin’s support for the Indonesia Inc. concept and, as a government partner, Kadin supports government programs to boost economic growth to 8% and realize welfare for all Indonesians.
“The President’s message was truly inspiring,” said Anin.
Present during the President’s briefing in Hambalang were several senior figures and business leaders, including Aburizal Bakrie, MS Hidayat, Suryo Bambang Sulisto, Oesman Sapta Odang, Sharif Cicip Sutardjo, James T. Riady, Tomy Winata, Franky Oesman Widjaja, and Hilmi Panigoro.
Also attending were Chairman of the Advisory Board of Kadin Indonesia Arsjad Rasjid, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara as well as Chairman of Kadin’s Honorary Council Rosan P. Roeslani, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
