President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto departed for Cebu on Thursday, 7 May 2026, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit, which is being held from 7–8 May 2026. The Head of State and his limited delegation took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at approximately 9:10 a.m. WIB.
President Prabowo’s departure was seen off directly by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra.
Upon arriving in Cebu, President Prabowo is scheduled to attend one of the agendas of the 48th ASEAN Summit, namely the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, which serves as a strategic forum to strengthen connectivity and economic cooperation within the ASEAN subregion.
During the visit, President Prabowo is expected to discuss strengthening cooperation among ASEAN member states, including efforts to address ongoing global dynamics. Several issues to be discussed include global developments affecting the region, efforts to maintain energy security, and strengthening coordination in responding to geopolitical dynamics.
The meeting of ASEAN leaders is also expected to reinforce regional solidarity in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation across various sectors.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the Philippines were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
