The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of Surakarta City is holding another Solo Great Sale (SGS) in collaboration with Kadin Indonesia, Kadin Central Java and the Ministry of Investment / BKPM. SGS 2024 carries the theme "Tourism & Shopping Enchantment in the City of Culture".

Solo Great Sale is an annual event that began in 2015 which until 2024 is entering the 10th SGS. This time SGS will be held from 1-30 May 2024, coinciding with the 44th Anniversary of DEKRANAS on 14-18 May 2024 and HKG PKK on 16 May 2024. This event was attended by 38 provinces throughout Indonesia and attended by more than 6000 delegates and participants.

Chairman of the Surakarta City Chamber of Commerce, Ferry S. Indrianto, said the SGS was held to increase the role of MSMEs and strengthen the regional economy through trade and investment, as well as tourism promotion.

"This is an opportunity to strengthen the ecosystem connectivity of Kadin and DEKRANAS businesses. It is also a good platform for the Ayo Berkadin programme," said Ferry.

He said, SGS involves Soloraya businesses from various sectors such as transportation, hotels, restaurants, malls and shopping centres, retail businesses, traditional markets, gadgets and electronics, services and finance to MSMEs that become Solo Great Sale 2024 tenants by offering various kinds of discounts and attractive promo programs.

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private sector and government in strengthening Solo's economy.

"We at Kadin Indonesia are proud to be part of a joint effort to increase investment and advance MSMEs throughout Indonesia," said Arsjad.

Secretary of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM Ikmal Lukman emphasised the importance of the shopping festival in accelerating the regional economy. Investment is the key to the progress of a region.

"Solo Great Sale is a big step towards a brighter future," said Ikmal.

Deputy Mayor of Solo Teguh Prakosa added that the event was a real effort to drive the economy. In addition, it empowers MSMEs and makes Solo an attractive investment destination.

"We are determined to continue to advance the regional economy," said Teguh.

The Solo Great Sale 2024 event series for one full month begins with the Opening ceremony, Candi Elektronik Big Sale, Solo Indonesia Culinary Festival 2024, Solo Etnik Lurik Batik & Craft 2024, Semarak Budaya Indonesia, Expo Dekranas & Talkshow, REI Expo, BUMN Great Sale, KAI Solo Fun Run, Solo Ekraf Sale, Closing Ceremony and prize draw, and other supporting agendas.
