Deputy Industry Minister Faisol Riza Inspects 6-Hectare Site for Proposed Industrial Training Center in Lampung, Focusing on Cassava Downstreaming

Kota Baru, Lampung – On Thursday, July 16, 2026, Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza conducted a direct site inspection of a 6-hectare land plot prepared by the Lampung Provincial Government. The site is designated as the future location for the Industrial Training Center (BDI) in Kota Baru, South Lampung, Lampung.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Industry was accompanied by the Vice Governor of Lampung, Jihan Nurlela; the Governor's Expert Staff and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Lampung Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Ardiansyah; and the Vice Chairman for Organizational and Legal Affairs of the Lampung Province Kadin, Romi Junanto Utama.

This field visit marks a concrete step by the Ministry of Industry to promote Lampung as a national hub for food and cassava-based industrial downstreaming. This strategic plan is driven by Lampung's highly strategic position as the gateway to Sumatra, supported by adequate infrastructure.

The key details of the Industrial Training Center project in Lampung include:

  • Downstreaming Focus: The training center will focus on strengthening the competitiveness of the food and processed cassava industries.

  • Infrastructure Support: This strategic location is backed by comprehensive connectivity, ranging from an international port to the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road.

The construction of the Industrial Training Center (BDI) was previously the main topic of discussion between the Lampung Provincial Government and the Ministry of Industry during a bilateral meeting in Jakarta earlier this year.

The center is targeted to become a hub for human resource development in the industrial sector. Furthermore, this facility is projected to produce a competent workforce through structured and certified training programs to bolster the competitiveness of the regional industry.
