Kadin Indonesia Profile

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is an organization that brings together all business players in Indonesia, regardless of their scale (large or small) or sector (state-owned enterprises, cooperatives, or private). Kadin serves as the sole representative of the Indonesian business community, bridging the interests of entrepreneurs with the government and other stakeholders.

Established under Law No. 1 of 1987 concerning the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the organization's primary task is to gather, foster, represent, and advocate for the interests of the business world in a comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable manner, all with the aim of strengthening the national economy.

As an independent and non-profit organization, Kadin is a strategic partner to the government in efforts to create a healthy, competitive, and equitable business climate throughout Indonesia.

Kadin's business network extends from regencies/cities to provinces and reaches almost every country in the world. Kadin also oversees business associations covering all business sectors, making it a highly attractive and strategic partner for business activities, trade, and investment.

Our Mission

Kadin aims to foster and develop the capabilities and interests of Indonesian entrepreneurs across all business sectors, including state-owned, cooperative, and private enterprises. Kadin also strives to integrate the national economic potential in a balanced way, encompassing all business sectors, large and small scales, and all regions throughout Indonesia.

Furthermore, Kadin seeks to create an innovative, competitive, collaborative, clean, and conducive business climate. This is to encourage the active involvement of the business community in national development and competition within the global economy. To achieve this, Kadin continuously develops its organization professionally at all levels of management, from the central to regional branches.

Objectives

To foster and develop the capabilities, activities, and interests of Indonesian entrepreneurs in the state-owned enterprises sector, the cooperative sector, and the private sector in their role as key actors in the national economy, with the aim of establishing a sound and orderly economic life and business environment in accordance with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia;

To create and promote a business climate that enables the broadest possible and effective participation in National Development.

Primary Duties

In pursuit of the objectives as stipulated in Law Number 1 of 1987 and the Articles of Association of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Kadin's primary duties are to facilitate synergy among entrepreneurs in fulfilling resource needs; to serve as a strategic partner to the government in economic policy communication, consultation, and advocacy; and to represent the business community in various economic and investment policy-making forums. Kadin also plays a role in promoting corporate social responsibility, instilling business ethics and good corporate governance, and fostering and empowering business organizations to optimize their role in the development of the national business sector.

In addition, Kadin is authorized to grant accreditation to business organizations, provide a range of business services including document legalization, and carry out assignments from the government in accordance with prevailing regulations. Kadin also contributes to improving business efficiency through the provision of information, technology, and managerial solutions; promotes entrepreneurship and business scale development; maintains a database of business actors; and grants recognition of business organization leadership in accordance with applicable laws and decisions issued by competent authorities.

Functions

  1. To serve as a platform for communication, information exchange, representation, consultation, facilitation, and advocacy among business actors, as well as between entrepreneurs, the government, and the international business community.
  2. To act as a strategic partner to the government in the economic sector by providing policy recommendations, fostering a healthy business climate, and promoting equitable access to business opportunities.

Organizational Structure

National Board of the Kadin Indonesia
The National Board serves as the governing body of Kadin Indonesia and holds the highest leadership authority within the organization. It represents the organization both externally and internally.

Provincial and Regency/Municipal Boards of Kadin
Provincial Board: Based in the provincial capital, the Provincial Board is responsible for carrying out the organizational functions at the provincial level.

Regency/Municipal Board: Based in the capital of the respective regency or city, the Regency/Municipal Board carries out the organizational functions within its designated jurisdiction.

Why Kadin Indonesia?

Based on Law Number 1 of 1987 stipulates that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is a forum for all Indonesian entrepreneurs both in the field of state business, cooperative business and private business. Kadin Indonesia acts as a forum and vehicle for guidance, communication, information, representation, consultation, facilitation and advocacy of Indonesian entrepreneurs.

Kadin Indonesia will help its members to improve entrepreneurial skills, verifying business entities, provide assistance in expanding business opportunities both domestically and globally, including other related matters.

4 types of Kadin membership: 

  1. Ordinary Member: Indonesian Entrepreneur or Company.
  2. Members of Micro and Ultra Micro Enterprises: Kadin members other than ordinary members (AB) and extraordinary members (ALB) consisting of Indonesian entrepreneurs or companies whose status as micro and ultra-micro enterprises is determined by laws and regulations.
  3. Extraordinary Member (ALB): Entrepreneur's Organisation and Company Organisation.
  4. Extraordinary Members of Record (ALBT): A combination of national level Extraordinary Members (ALB) which do not yet have the rights and obligations of an ALB.

The benefits of joining Kadin Indonesia: 

  1. Access to information regarding business opportunities both domestically and globally.
  2. Access to information regarding other Kadin Indonesia members' company data/fields of business.
  3. Opportunities to participate in education and training, exhibitions, trade missions, seminars/panel discussions/workshops, business contacts, etc.
  4. Receive guidance, assistance, and legal protection as needed.
  5. Provision of useful certificates to smoothen the business, such as certificates of good performance, recommendation letters to support company business activities, and other related membership certificates from Kadin Indonesia.
  6. Facilitation of domestic and global business relations, such as the facilitation of APEC Business Travel Cards and visa recommendations.
  7. Facilitation of the issuance of recommendations for Certificates of Origin and legalization of foreign business activity documents, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
