Kadin Southwest Papua Musprov Elects Darwanto as Chairman

After going through a plenary session in the Provincial Deliberation (Muprov) I of the Southwest Papua Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Deswanto was elected by acclamation as the new Chairman for the next five-year period.

The meeting was held at Aston Sorong Hotel on Thursday, 27 June 2024 and was attended by the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid, as well as all regency/city Kadin administrators throughout Southwest Papua Province.

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Arsjad Rasjid in his speech said that the Musprov should be a means of consolidation and also synergy for the Kadin of Southwest Papua to further advance the province's economy.

‘Congratulations to Southwest Papua Province for holding the first Musprov, and this is a milestone,’ said Arsjad.

After being declared legitimate as Chairman of the Southwest Papua Province Kadin for the period 2024-2029, Darwanto explained his vision and mission for the next five years. The following is his explanation.

Vision:
Making the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of Southwest Papua Province a strategic partner trusted by all stakeholders, with a focus on proactive collaboration in providing economic policy advocacy, to accelerate success and shared prosperity in the Southwest Papua region.

Mission:

  1. Strengthen Kadin's role as a forum for communication and consultation between entrepreneurs, especially local entrepreneurs, and between entrepreneurs and local government to ensure productive dialogue in the creation and implementation of inclusive local economic policies in Papua Barat Daya.
  2. Increase the capacity of the organisation by forming a management structure of Kadin that is in accordance with its track record, capacity and capability, and in accordance with its professionalism. And will embrace all parties without distinguishing anything for the good of Kadin, so that it can function as an effective strategic partner in supporting the Regional Government and the business world.
  3. Empower MSMEs and cooperatives as pillars of the local economy by seeking sustainable access to funding, fostering the spirit and adaptive skills of business, and creating support for marketing partnerships.
  4. Encourage the creation of a conducive investment climate by simplifying and making transparent the business licensing process, facilitating access to funding and supporting strategic investments in agriculture, marine, and infrastructure sectors that support regional economic growth.
