Meeting with Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister, Kadin Chairman Encourages Collaboration in Fertilizers and Heavy Equipment

Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich at the Kadin Indonesia Tower, Jakarta, on Tuesday (December 16, 2026).

The meeting discussed strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, including investment opportunities and strategic industries.

Following the meeting, Anindya who is commonly known as Anin said the discussions explored several areas of collaboration considered mutually beneficial. At least four to five key sectors were highlighted, ranging from the fertilizer industry to the utilization of Indonesia’s halal market.

“We discussed the potential development of the fertilizer industry, considering that Belarus is one of the major suppliers of potash to Indonesia. However, the cooperation does not stop there,” Anin said.

Anin explained that both sides also discussed efforts to boost agricultural productivity through the use of technology, including mechanization as well as the development of agricultural machinery and equipment. In addition, opportunities for the industrialization of heavy equipment such as buses and large-capacity tractors of up to 450 tons were also explored.

“We also talked about how Belarus could tap into Indonesia’s vast halal market,” Anin added.

Furthermore, Anin noted that Belarus holds a strategic position for Indonesia as one of the gateways to expanding economic cooperation with the Eurasian region. This aligns with the planned handling of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is scheduled for the following week.

“This is a golden opportunity. We hope that business-to-business relations between entrepreneurs of both countries can follow the strong government-to-government relations that have already been established,” Anin said.

He further noted that trade between Indonesia and Belarus in 2025 had reached approximately USD 400 million. With the CEPA in place, Anin expressed optimism that the figure could increase significantly while opening broader market access.

“With this CEPA, growth could be substantially accelerated and open access to a market of around 110 million people. This agreement is not only with Belarus, but also covers other countries such as Türkiye, Russia, Uzbekistan, and several other Eurasian nations,” Anin concluded.

Also attending the meeting were members of the Kadin Indonesia leadership, including Coordinating Vice Chairman for Human Development, Culture, and Sustainable Development Shinta W. Kamdani; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Export Development Juan Permata Adoe; Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations Bernardino M. Vega; Vice Chairman for Trade and International Agreements Pahala Mansury; Vice Chairman for Agriculture Devi Erna Rachmawati; and Chairman of the Kadin Indonesia Russia–Belarus Bilateral Committee Didit Ratam.
