Batam - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) together with Kadin Indragiri Hilir Regency, Kadin Batam City, and Kadin Riau Islands Province conducted the first export of coconut charcoal to Tianjin, China on Tuesday (10/02/2026).
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Exporter Development and Coordination, Frits Novianto Suhendar, said that this export programme received full support from the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, as part of concrete efforts to mobilise and strengthen MSMEs in the region.
"This is an excellent collaboration. This programme is truly driven by the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia (Anindya Novyan Bakrie) because its impact is directly felt by MSMEs in the regions," he said.
Frits said that in the initial contract, the total volume of coconut charcoal exports reached 36,000 tonnes, with a delivery requirement of around 125 containers per month. This figure shows the high demand in the international market for coconut derivative products from Indonesia.
‘This first export has been officially realised with our partner from China, Mr. Ryu,’ he said.
Kadin, continued Frits, also expressed appreciation to the local business actors who were directly involved, who were not only committed organisationally, but also directly involved as business drivers.
‘Thank you to Mr. Ryu and all partners. This is proof that cross-district and cross-city collaboration can work very well,’ said Frits.
The Chairman of the Permanent Committee for the Development and Strengthening of Manufacturing and MSME Exports at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zulfikar H. Pane, said that in addition to coconut charcoal, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also preparing further exports of coconut powder and fibre to Tianjin. The next stage will not only focus on trade, but also on technology transfer from China to Indonesia.
"In the future, there will be shipments of production equipment from China to speed up processing. So it is not just the export of raw materials, but also an increase in processing technology within the country," he explained.
According to Zulfikar, the value of coconut charcoal exports in one year is estimated to reach Rp200 billion. Meanwhile, for coconut fibre commodities, the contract value is still being calculated, with a total combined export target of Rp500 billion in the first year.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Permanent Committee for Certification and Legality of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Nurliah added that this programme also involves dozens of home-based MSMEs spread across four sub-districts in Indragiri Hilir Regency, as well as involving cross-districts in the supply and production chain.
“This truly reaches household-based groups. The impact is not only on the local economy but also on community empowerment,” said Nurliah.
