To strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) undertook a working visit to the Consulate-General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kuching, Sarawak. This visit served as an opportunity to promote the Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS) 2026 as a platform for the development of the halal industry, investment, trade, and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Borneo region.

The strengthening of this collaboration is focused on enhancing synergy between business actors and the government in developing the economic potential of the border region. Kadin considers cross-border partnerships to be a key factor in driving mutually beneficial economic growth. “Indonesia and Malaysia must work together, as it is vital that businesspeople from both nations actively collaborate to advance our nations through our existing border with Malaysia,” said Andi Yuslim Patawari, Deputy Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, on Wednesday (22 July 26).

Andi emphasised that Kadin is committed to supporting various government programmes through the active participation of the business community. According to him, collaboration among stakeholders is necessary to strengthen national economic development.

“We at Kadin are fully committed and always actively participate in supporting government programmes,” he said.

The Indonesian Consul-General in Kuching, Abdullah Zulkifli, commended Kadin’s efforts in establishing concrete cooperation with business partners in Sarawak. He noted that this initiative forms the foundation for strengthening economic ties between the two regions.

“We greatly appreciate and welcome Kadin’s involvement, which has taken tangible steps, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sarawak Business Federation to develop trade cooperation and collaboration in the digital and banking sectors,” said Abdullah.

He emphasised that the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching is ready to strengthen its synergy with Kadin in promoting the ‘Indonesia Incorporated’ concept. This collaboration is expected to expand business and economic cooperation that will benefit both nations.

“The Consul General in Kuching, as a representative of the Indonesian government, is ready to work with Kadin to support the growth of ‘Indonesia Incorporated’, where all stakeholders in Indonesia from various sectors collaborate to build business and economic cooperation that is mutually beneficial and can improve the welfare of the Indonesian people,” he said.
