The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) supports the government in socialising Minister of Industry Regulation No 45 of 2022 which regulates industrial standardisation. Kadin took the initiative to hold a socialisation by inviting industrial businesses, especially in the manufacturing sector and Kadin's extraordinary member associations on 7 November 2023.
This socialisation is expected to increase a deeper understanding so that businesses can implement and use SNI (Indonesian National Standard) more optimally.
With an increased understanding of the application of SNI, it is then expected that it will be easier for other countries to accept national industrial goods, even though there is no Mutual Recognitions Assessment (MRA) with the destination country for exporting goods.
SNI certificates are given to industrial companies or producers abroad that have fulfilled the mandatory implementation of SNI and use their own brands.
Meanwhile, the Certificate of Conformity is given to industrial companies or producers abroad that have fulfilled the mandatory ST (Technical Specifications) and / or PTC (Guidelines for Procedures) and use their own brands.
In the event of brand and/or maklun cooperation, an SNI certificate or certificate of conformity may be granted if:
- The brand used is the brand owned by the provider of cooperation or the provider of maklun;
- The co-operator or licensor must be domiciled in Indonesia or in the event that it is not domiciled in Indonesia, the co-operator or licensor must have an authorised representative or licensee in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia; and
- The Industrial Company or overseas manufacturer already has an SNI certificate or certificate of conformity for its own brand.
