Promoting a Green Economy, Kadin Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainable Investment for 2026 Economic Growth

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), through its Division for Investment, Downstream Industries, Energy, and Environment, held a National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) themed “Green Investment as a Driver of Economic Growth in 2026” at The Langham Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Monday (17/11/2025).

In his opening remarks delivered via video conference, Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie emphasized that the transition toward a green economy has now become a fundamental pillar of strengthening national growth.

“Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the green economic transformation is no longer an option but a conviction. We are committed to being the government’s strategic partner in advancing green investment as the primary driver of Indonesia’s economic growth in 2026,” Anin said.

Anin outlined the achievements of the past year, noting that Kadin has been at the forefront of strengthening the sustainable investment ecosystem. He highlighted several initiatives, including the development of monetized green investment, cross-sector collaboration with international chambers, the establishment of the Kadin Net Zero Hub, and the drafting of the Indonesia Energy Transition Factbook, which provides concrete guidance to businesses in implementing clean energy transition strategies.

He added that various sectors—from minerals and agriculture to renewable energy—are now showing stronger commitments to sustainable investment.

“Kadin will continue to promote investment that prioritizes innovation, resource efficiency, and environmental justice so that economic growth does not come at the expense of sustainability,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Kadin Indonesia Deputy Chair for Investment, Downstream Industries, Energy, and Environment Bobby Gafur Umar noted that 2026 is targeted to become a pivotal year for accelerating green investment as a key contributor to economic growth.

“To achieve 8% economic growth, total investment from 2024 to 2029 must reach approximately Rp13,032 trillion. The 2026 target is projected to rise by 14% compared to 2025,” Bobby said.

He also highlighted that over the next decade, total additional power generation capacity is expected to reach 69.53 gigawatts, with 61% or 42.3 gigawatts coming from renewable energy sources and 15% from energy storage systems.

“This shows that the future of energy is inseparable from environmental sustainability. Kadin must make this a central focus of its work plans,” he added.

Furthermore, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister for Investment and Downstream Industries / Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Todotua Pasaribu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting green energy investment despite existing production cost challenges.

“One of the government’s strategies is to strengthen downstream programs so that we can become self-reliant in green energy materials, making green energy prices more competitive and ensuring investment plans proceed as intended,” he said.

From an environmental standpoint, Deputy Minister of Environment / Deputy Head of the Environmental Control Agency Diaz Hendropriyono underscored the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Kadin.

“We emphasize the need for collaboration to advance green industries and a green economy. Both globally and in Indonesia, we face a climate funding gap,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza encouraged businesses to accelerate decarbonization efforts in the manufacturing sector.

“We urge all business actors, especially those within Kadin, to work together to achieve net-zero emissions for industry by 2050 earlier than the national target of 2060,” he said.
