Four Days Retreat in Tidar Valley, Kadin Strengthens Internal Consolidation to Become Warrior Entrepreneurs

JAKARTA- For four days, Thursday (07/08/2025) to Sunday (10/08/2025), around 250 Kadin administrators throughout Indonesia will attend a ‘retreat’ at the Military Academy (Akmil), Magelang, Central Java. The administrators consist of the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Vice Chairmen of the Coordinator (WKUK), Vice Chairmen (WKU), Heads of Agencies (Kabadan), Chairmen of the Provincial Kadin, extraordinary members, Head of the Advisory Board, Head of the Business Council, Head of the Honorary Board, Head of the Advisory Board, and Kadin Alumni of Lemhanas. If there is no change, Kadin's internal consolidation event in the Tidar Valley is planned to be opened by President Prabowo Subianto on Friday 08/08/2025).

‘This retreat aims to raise the collective awareness of Kadin members in order to become warrior entrepreneurs with a national perspective and become active government partners who make a real contribution to the nation and state,’ said Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie after meeting with Lemhanas RI Governor TB Hasan Syadzily on Friday (01/08/2025). As an official partner of the government, the retreat is also a platform to harmonise Kadin's vision and activities with national development policies under President Prabowo Subianto.

Kadin expects the President to open the retreat on Friday (08/08/2025). Moreover, this is a new history for Kadin. This is the first time Kadin has held a retreat. "We all know how busy Mr President's schedule is. This is Kadin's hope and we have sent an invitation to Mr President," explained Anin, Anindya Novyan Bakrie's nickname.

Global economic conditions are plagued by uncertainty. In the future, geopolitical issues - such as the Israel vs Iran War, 7-11 June 2025 - are difficult to predict. War, said Anin, can erupt at any time and no one can make precise predictions. We cannot be sure that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran will be permanent. The same goes for the geopolitical situation in other regions of the world.

Therefore, said Anin, Indonesian entrepreneurs must be resilient and have global insights. Business people must be resilient in facing all situations, no matter how difficult. In the face of increasingly difficult economic conditions, business people must be able to develop their business, at least be able to maintain the business, no layoffs. ‘This is what is called a warrior entrepreneur,’ said Anin.

Derived from the Latin word ‘retrahere’ which means to pull back or retreat, a retreat is a time deliberately set aside by a person or organisation to get out of the daily routine to reflect, evaluate, and make strategic planning and build togetherness. The retreat in the Tidar Valley attended by Kadin administrators throughout Indonesia was a refreshment and internal consolidation to strengthen the cohesiveness of joint movements to participate in the success of government programmes, encourage investment, create jobs, encourage economic growth, and create equity.

Quoting Indonesian economist Prof Dr Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo, Anin said that political sovereignty is meaningless without economic sovereignty. The business world must have a fighting spirit, be independent, and stand on the ground of Pancasila.

There are five objectives of Kadin's retreat in the Tidar Valley, namely, first, to improve the national insight of business leaders. Second, to align Kadin's vision with the direction of national development. Third, to foster collective awareness that the business world is part of the universal defence system. Fourth, to encourage the contribution of the business world in sustainable development and national resilience. Fifth, strengthening the consolidation of Kadin to districts and cities.

For the first time, entrepreneurs entered the barracks. "This is not about becoming a soldier. But, there are values that entrepreneurs can learn, namely the fighting spirit like a combat soldier," said Anin.

The retreat participants were given various economic, political, and national insight materials. The economic material focused on the four quick win gotong royong kadin-government programmes, namely the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), Gotong Royong Clinic for free health checks, the Construction of Three Million Houses, including through the renovation of uninhabitable houses, and the Migrant Worker Dispatch programme.

Kadin participants were not only given material on efforts to increase investment and trade, energy sovereignty and food sovereignty, but also the increasingly dynamic and complicated geopolitical conditions, national insight, and the importance of being a warrior entrepreneur who lives the values of Pancasila, the spirit of gotong royong, and especially the precepts of Social Justice for All Indonesian People.

The speakers were not only the three economic ministers - Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Coordinating Minister for Food, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure - and a number of economic ministers - including the Minister of Finance, Minister of Industry, Minister of Trade, Minister of Investment and Downstream, and Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, but also ministers and officials outside the economic field. They were the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Home Affairs, Governor of Lemhanas, and Governor of Akmil. There was material on the History of Indonesia's Struggle, Strategic Environment, National Vigilance, National Resilience, Four National Consensus, and National Management.

Kadin is a strategic partner of the government in national development. The retreat will be used as an opportunity to formulate policy recommendations, prepare quality human resources so that business people have a leadership spirit with national insight, foster awareness of dynamic geopolitical developments and multidimensional threats to business stability, and bridge the business world and the military to realise non-military defence.

This year, Indonesia celebrates its 80th Independence Day. Prabowo's administration has only been in place for ten months. The Kadin board is also new. The retreat was held at the right moment. A moment for internal consolidation. A momentum to discuss various strategic issues in the social, economic, political and legal fields to prepare for the golden generation 20 years from now, when Indonesia celebrates its 100th Independence Day, in 2045.

The retreat will be taken seriously. Participants are required to fully attend all classes and on the last day produce a four-page paper. ‘Each participant will be given a certificate as a sign of passing the retreat,’ concluded Anin. ***)
