Investasi Transisi Energi Capai 2,3 Triliun Dolar AS, Anindya Bakrie Tekankan Tiga Prioritas

Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Novyan Bakrie said that the energy transition is no longer merely a climate change agenda, but has become an important part of Indonesia’s economic competitiveness, energy security, and industrial strategy.

Anin, as he is commonly known, made the remarks in his opening speech at the BloombergNEF Forum Jakarta 2026, held at The St. Regis Jakarta in South Jakarta on Monday (October 5, 2026).

“Energy transition is increasingly becoming an agenda for economic competitiveness, energy security, and industrial strategy, and this is highly important for Indonesia,” Anin said.

According to Anin, investment opportunities in the energy transition sector remain wide open amid geopolitical uncertainty, shifting trade patterns, and growing attention to energy security. Global investment in the energy transition reached a record US$2.3 trillion in 2025, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for nearly half of total global investment.

For Indonesia, Anin said, the opportunity is also significant. According to a BloombergNEF study, Indonesia’s pathway to net zero is estimated to create investment opportunities of up to US$3.8 trillion through 2050.

Anin said Indonesia has strong fundamentals to capitalize on these opportunities, including abundant critical minerals, significant renewable energy potential, a large domestic market, and the rapid development of electric vehicles, batteries, biofuels, and geothermal energy.

“These factors provide a strong foundation for Indonesia to increase value-added activities and develop higher-value industries with lower carbon emissions domestically,” Anin said.

At the forum, Anin outlined three key priorities that Indonesia needs to strengthen in advancing the energy transition.

First, the energy transition must strengthen national competitiveness and energy security. It needs to deliver reliable, affordable, and increasingly low-carbon energy to strengthen industries, attract investment, and create jobs.

Second, Indonesia needs to capture more value from the clean energy economy. According to Anin, Indonesia must move beyond being merely a supplier of raw materials toward green industrialization by strengthening processing capabilities, manufacturing, technology, and clean energy industries.

Third, efforts are needed to narrow the gap between available capital and projects that are ready to be financed. This can be achieved through greater regulatory certainty, credible projects, stronger infrastructure, and financing mechanisms that make sustainable investments bankable and scalable.

“This is where collaboration between the government and the private sector becomes critically important,” Anin said.

Furthermore, Anin emphasized that Kadin Indonesia continues to promote the spirit of Indonesia Incorporated, bringing together the government, state-owned enterprises, private companies, investors, financial institutions, and international partners to work together in supporting Indonesia’s national development goals.

“Kadin is ready to help bridge these stakeholders, bring business experience into the policymaking process, help Indonesian companies navigate the transition, and ensure that the opportunities are not enjoyed only by large corporations, but also by MSMEs and businesses across the regions,” Anin said.

Anin said Indonesia does not lack opportunities, ambition, or capital to develop a low-carbon economy. The challenge, he said, is to bring these three elements together to deliver tangible projects and create economic value for Indonesia.

“If we are able to do this, the energy transition can become far more than just a climate agenda for Indonesia. It can strengthen energy security, deepen industrial capabilities, and create new sources of growth for Indonesia in the decades ahead,” Anin concluded.
