Kadin and IAPI Forge Partnership to Enhance Accounting Literacy and Tax Compliance Among Entrepreneurs

Jakarta - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and the Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (IAPI) officially signed a Cooperation Agreement (MoU) on the Implementation of Joint Programs on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Kadin Tower, South Jakarta.

Benny Soetrisno, Vice Chairman for Development of Associations/Organizations/Extraordinary Members (ALB) at Kadin Indonesia, stated that the agreement aims to enhance business actors’ knowledge—particularly Kadin’s associations, organizations, and ALB members—on financial accounting standards, public audit standards, and tax regulations.

“Business owners definitely need public accountants. That’s why we need to collaborate with IAPI to shed light on proper financial management,” said Benny.

Although IAPI has already been registered as an Extraordinary Member of Kadin Indonesia, Benny explained that this formal cooperation is now being outlined through a two-year agreement.

“In fact, the collaboration has already been ongoing, but now we have formalized it through a dedicated agreement. It was just signed today,” he added.

Benny further elaborated that the scope of the cooperation includes public outreach on these standards, as well as seminars, webinars, education, training, and focused group discussions (FGDs).

“It covers dissemination of financial accounting standards, public audit standards, and other relevant regulations (including tax laws), as well as seminars, webinars, educational programs, training sessions, FGDs, and other mutually agreed activities,” Benny concluded.

Addressing SP2DK, Promoting Tax Compliance and Good Governance

Following the signing of the MoU, Kadin Indonesia and IAPI also held a hybrid seminar titled:

“How to Prevent and Respond to the Request for Clarification on Data and/or Information (SP2DK)”

IAPI Chairman Hendang Tanusdjaja emphasized that the event marks an important step in strengthening inter-professional collaboration.

“This is an effort by IAPI to foster collaboration and strengthen ties across professional communities. It aims to enhance the public role and recognition of our members while supporting broader economic development in Indonesia,” Hendang said.

He also underscored the vital role of public accountants in sustaining the national economy.

“Public accountants play a critical role in supporting good corporate governance, promoting transparency, and safeguarding national economic sustainability,” he added.

The seminar aimed to provide comprehensive understanding to business actors on how to effectively address SP2DK, including tax data management techniques, communication strategies with tax authorities, and how to leverage tax regulations to minimize risk and ensure compliance.

Topics also covered broader issues such as taxpayer compliance, Indonesia’s low tax ratio, its large tax gap, and fiscal policies that often trigger the issuance of SP2DK.

Additionally, seminar participants gained technical insights into SP2DK, including its stages, oversight scope, common causes, how to respond appropriately, and the importance of Tax Diagnostic Reviews (TDRs) as a preventive tool.

The hybrid seminar featured a range of expert speakers, including Kusumaningsih Angkawijaya (National Executive Board of IAPI), Dr. Machfud Sidik (Director General of Fiscal Balance 2001–2004 and Faculty Member at the University of Indonesia’s School of Administrative Sciences), Sampurna Bahri (Tax Consultant and Member of IAPI’s Tax Committee), Ajib Hamdani (Chairman of Kadin Indonesia’s Standing Committee on Taxation), Moderator Herman Juwono (Vice Chairman of Kadin’s Standing Committee on Insurance & Financial Services Associations)
