Kadin and Information Commission Sign MoU on Business Information Disclosure

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Information Commission (KI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a commitment to realize business information disclosure. The MoU was signed by the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid and the Chairman of the Central Information Commission, Donny Yoesgiantoro during the 15th National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of KI throughout Indonesia in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, (11/6/2024).

Information disclosure is the key to a democratic country, the investment climate and the business world are greatly influenced by policies issued by the government, be it related to taxes, incentives, ease of investment, and others.

Arsjad Rasjid said that openness must come from both sides, both from the government and the business world.

"Kadin Indonesia will continue to support the synergy between the government and the private sector to create an inclusive and collaborative business environment. This MoU is an effort to make business information in the business world more open, so that later it will increase the role of entrepreneurs and investors involved in government policies and agendas concerning the country's economy,” Arsjad said.

According to him, transparency is needed in the business world, so the Central Information Commission has a strategic role to formulate information disclosure in all aspects, including the business sector. For example, Singapore has a Public Service Commission institution that regulates public information management. This institution has played a role in reducing the number of corruption in Singapore, so that the level of investor confidence in the country has increased due to a relatively conducive business environment.

Apart from Singapore, Arsjad continued, several countries in Europe have also implemented transparency in public information management that is strengthened by data protection. Public information disclosure is needed in the business sector because it will have a positive impact on a country's economic growth.

Indonesia must learn a lot from developed countries so that information governance is more transparent in accordance with the needs of the country and involves the community. However, Arsjad said, in implementing information disclosure, it must adapt to local wisdom ranging from culture, customs, and culture that exist in each region in Indonesia.
