Kadin and KPPU to Form Working Group on Implementation of Guidelines for Business Actors

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a meeting with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) to discuss the implementation of communication and coordination support for businesses, at the KPPU Office in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/8/2024).

The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Trade Juan Permata Adoe, Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Associations Wisnu Pettalolo, and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Business Competition Taufik Mapaerne. KPPU was represented by KPPU members Mohammad Reza, Hilman Pujana, and Budi Joyo Santoso.

One of the agendas of the meeting was the formation of a Working Group to facilitate communication and coordination between the two parties. KPPU and Kadin hope that through this meeting, cooperation models can be implemented more effectively.

This refers to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that has been signed previously. On 10 November 2023, KPPU and Kadin signed the MoU and it is valid until 10 November 2028. The MoU includes providing advice or input; implementing socialisation and/or advocacy activities; organising education and training; promoting business competition; and other activities deemed necessary and agreed by both parties.

‘Kadin wants to form a working team to facilitate communication between KPPU and Kadin,’ said Chairman of the Standing Committee on Business Competition, Taufik Mapaerne.

KPPU member Hilman Pujana said that in carrying out its duties and functions, KPPU needs the role of business actors.

‘KPPU needs to see from the perspective of the business world, what things are needed. KPPU should not become a barrier,’ Hilman explained.

In line with this, KPPU Member Budi Joyo Santoso said that KPPU cannot run alone. ‘Every party plays a role in helping to carry out the duties and authority of KPPU,’ said Budi.

During the meeting, KPPU emphasised its plan to develop Association Guidelines that require perspectives from business associations.

KPPU member Mohammad Reza emphasised that KPPU is trying to be bolder in providing views and attitudes. ‘If there are questions from business players, KPPU will be proactive in responding,’ said Reza.

It is expected that after today's meeting, a Working Group will be formed to facilitate communication and coordination between the two parties. KPPU and Kadin hope that through this meeting, cooperation models can be implemented more effectively.
