Kadin and Pegadaian Collaborate to Promote Gold as a Savings and Investment Instrument

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), in collaboration with PT Pegadaian (Persero), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under an Integrated Economic Empowerment program titled "Strategic Collaboration between Kadin and Pegadaian to Goldenize Indonesia" at Pegadaian Tower, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (Aug 12, 2026).

Anindya Novyan Bakrie, General Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, stated that this collaboration serves as a strategic step to expand access for the public and the business sector to gold—not only as a savings and investment instrument but also as a source of financing.

Anindya, affectionately known as Anin, explained that Kadin is an umbrella organization for the business community, encompassing not only large corporations but also small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, the partnership with Pegadaian opens up opportunities for Kadin members to utilize various gold-based services.

“This collaboration can work, at the very least, from a savings perspective—both for corporations and individuals. Secondly, this is certainly a great way to secure future financing,” Anin said.

Anin noted that gold possesses unique characteristics as a relatively stable store of value. Traditionally, the public compares wealth metrics against the Indonesian Rupiah or the US Dollar; gold, however, serves as an effective alternative to preserve asset value over the long term.

Furthermore, Anin expressed appreciation for the evolution of the gold ecosystem in Indonesia, ranging from gold banking services to gold-backed investment products. During the event, Anin also had the opportunity to try out Pegadaian’s gold ATM facility firsthand.

“I tried it myself at the ATM. If you have savings, you can physically withdraw your own gold. This gives the public peace of mind knowing that the physical gold truly backs their savings,” Anin added.

He noted that a primary focus of the partnership between Kadin and Pegadaian is to enhance outreach and financial literacy regarding gold as a public savings instrument.

“We can actively promote and socialize gold as a form of savings. I particularly like the tagline: Achieving Golden Indonesia with Gold,” Anin remarked.

Beyond serving as a savings tool, Anin highlighted that gold can be leveraged for investment and financing needs. This aligns with Indonesia’s imperative to boost funding capacity while encouraging a culture of saving among citizens.

“Our needs as a nation are substantial. For Indonesia to successfully escape the middle-income trap, we must build a strong saving habit—and saving in gold is one of the best ways to do it,” Anin stated.

Meanwhile, Damar Latri Setiawan, President Director of PT Pegadaian (Persero), stated that the MoU marks a strategic synergy between Pegadaian and Kadin Indonesia to broaden the reach of Pegadaian’s products and services among the business community and the general public.

Damar explained that one of Pegadaian’s flagship products is its Gold Savings (Tabungan Emas), which is easily accessible to the public via the Tring by Pegadaian mobile application.

“Pegadaian offers attractive products, chief among them being Gold Savings through the Tring app. Everyone can manage their gold-related transactions quickly and easily via Tring,” Damar said.

He added that the extensive networks of both Kadin and Pegadaian—spanning across various regions in Indonesia—serve as a vital asset to strengthen this collaboration.

“Kadin has a presence across Indonesia, and Pegadaian is everywhere in the country as well. It is truly a perfect fit for collaboration,” he remarked.

Damar added that the Tring by Pegadaian app is designed to be simple and user-friendly, making it suitable for all age groups. In addition to digital services, Pegadaian continues to expand physical access to gold transactions via gold ATMs.

“Currently, there are 20 gold ATMs operating across Indonesia,” he noted.

The scope of the MoU between Kadin Indonesia and PT Pegadaian (Persero) includes providing Pegadaian products and services to employees, companies, and suppliers of Kadin Indonesia's member companies in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

The partnership also encompasses training, mentorship, and financial literacy programs for Kadin members and their target communities. Additionally, both parties will synergize efforts to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event was attended by notable officials, including Vice General Chairperson (WKUK) for Organizational, Communication, and Regional Empowerment Affairs Erwin Aksa; WKUK for Law, Human Rights, and Infrastructure M. Azis Syamsuddin; Vice General Chairperson (WKU) for Organizational Affairs Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko; WKU for Regional Empowerment (who also serves as Independent Commissioner of PT Pegadaian) Kukrit Suryo Wicaksono; WKU for Java Region 1 (Jakarta, Banten, West Java) Agung Suryamal Sutisna; and WKU for Bali, NTB, NTT, Maluku, and North Maluku Region Amirullah Abas.
