Kadin DKI and Kodam Jaya Hold Cheap Food Bazaar Simultaneously in 5 Regions

The DKI Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in collaboration with the Jayakarta Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya) held a simultaneous cheap food bazaar in 5 regions in DKI Jakarta and Kepulauan Seribu. This was done as an effort to create food security ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H.

"Food security is an absolute thing so that people have no difficulty in obtaining basic necessities, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2024," said Chair of the DKI Jakarta Chamber of Commerce Diana Dewi, in a press statement, after kicking off the cheap market at the Kodam Jaya yard, Cawang, East Jakarta, Thursday (4/4/2024).

Diana said, every year before Eid, the prices of basic needs rise. However, with this cheap market, even though there is an increase, the prices of staples must remain rational.

"We want the community to be able to celebrate Eid without having difficulties in obtaining basic needs. This is a concrete effort from entrepreneurs gathered in Kadin DKI Jakarta in helping the government stabilise prices," said Diana.

She also asked residents not to be afraid of scarcity of basic needs to the point of panic buying. "This cheap market shows that basic needs are guaranteed to always be available and safely distributed to the wider community," she said.

Meanwhile, Pangdam Jaya Major General Mohamad Hasan welcomed the cheap market initiated by Kadin DKI. "This cheap market is very helpful for the community, especially those who are less fortunate, to be able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr properly," said Hasan in his speech at Kodam Jaya.

With this cheap market, he continued, Jakarta residents will be able to celebrate Eid with a solemn atmosphere. "We also hope that citizens will maintain conduciveness in their respective neighbourhoods during Eid al-Fitr," he said.

On that occasion, basic needs assistance was symbolically handed over to around 250 underprivileged residents. Dozens of trucks carrying basic necessities were also released to be distributed to 44 villages in Jakarta and Thousand Islands.

After opening the bazaar, Pangdam Jaya accompanied by his wife Ririx M. Hasan, the ranks of Kodam Jaya, Chairperson of Kadin DKI Diana Dewi and her staff, Mayor of East Jakarta, H. Anwar, representatives from Polda Metro Jaya, representatives from the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office, and other Forkompinda ranks, visited booths selling various Lebaran cakes and fashion.
