Kadin Indonesia Encourages Acceleration of MSME Digitalisation through ISSE 2023

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) affirms its commitment to developing the capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that they are able to upgrade in contributing to the Indonesian economy. This commitment is manifested by Kadin Indonesia by supporting the implementation of the Indonesia SME Summit and Expo (ISSE) which will be held on 29-31 August 2023, at ICE BSD.

ISSE 2023 is a trade show that brings together tens of thousands of MSMEs with stakeholders, so that they can get information and knowledge to develop their businesses, including by understanding the development trends of the digital market. In the largest MSME event in Indonesia, Kadin Indonesia as the umbrella of the WikiWirausaha programme also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a number of partners for MSME training and empowerment, including Desty App, Justika, Indonesia Coffee Academy, and Sarinah in accelerating the digitalisation of MSMEs.

Aldi Haryopratomo, Kadin Vice Chairman for Entrepreneurship, said that to further optimise the role of MSMEs, Kadin Indonesia through the WikiWirausaha programme continues to encourage inclusive and collaborative empowerment programmes so that MSMEs can upgrade, including bridging MSMEs to join the digital market ecosystem with enormous potential. The ISSE 2023 event is one of the concrete proofs of Kadin Indonesia through WikiWirausaha to bring together national MSME players in one grand event.

"Currently in Indonesia, there are many programmes that can help MSMEs, whether organised by the government, companies, or other organisations. However, it is not easy to find the right programme for MSME players to grow their business. Therefore, the implementation of ISSE 2023 is the right place to optimise the role of MSMEs by bringing together MSME players with stakeholders who can help their businesses 'upgrade', especially through the training held, match-making funding or working capital, opening market access, as well as mentorship," said Aldi.

Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in 2022, there are more than 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia. However, only around 22 million have entered the digital market. The government is targeting 24 million MSMEs to be connected to the digital ecosystem by the end of this year and 30 million by 2024.

On the sidelines of the ISSE 2023 event, Kadin Indonesia signed a collaboration with a number of companies and institutions that will provide training to MSMEs through the WikiWirausaha platform. In detail, the collaboration is carried out with Desty App for MSME digitalisation training, then with Indonesia Coffee Academy which will provide coffee and barista training, and Sarinah Indonesia for export training. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this collaboration was also signed with Justika for free legal advocacy for Kadin Indonesia's partner MSMEs.

Kadin Indonesia established WikiWirausaha with the aim of providing 'single-solution' easy access for MSME players, including with the ISSE 2023 event and collaboration with Desty, Justika, Indonesia Coffee Academy, Daya Dimensi Indonesia, and Sarinah.

"Through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with various WikiWirausaha programme partners, we hope that this inclusive partnership can be a bridge to empower MSME players, so that they can improve the right skills and expertise in developing their business," added Aldi.

CEO of Desty App, Mulyono Xu, said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with Kadin Indonesia through the WikiWirausaha programme is a big commitment effort to help MSMEs. "Desty hopes that through joint collaboration with Kadin Indonesia, it will continue to contribute to increasing the capacity of MSME players, especially through training to increase the digitalisation capacity of MSMEs that are members of Kadin Indonesia through WikiWirausaha".
