Kadin: Legal Certainty Needed for Conducive Business Climate

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said legal certainty is very important to improve the business investment climate. Law enforcement in Indonesia will attract new investors to invest in the country.

"We need legal certainty to attract investors," said Dhaniswara K. Hardjono, Deputy Chairman for Law and Human Rights of Kadin Indonesia, Wednesday (21/8).

Dhaniswara assessed that both legal elements and stakeholders have not been of one mind regarding the interpretation of unlawful acts or state losses, so there is a need for improvement.

"We are afraid of an economic crisis, but on the other hand a legal crisis has occurred. Comprehensive improvements need to be made, not only law enforcement, but also concerning elements of law makers and perpetrators," he said.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, lawyer Hotman Paris & Partners, Frank Hutapea provided support related to legal supervision needs to collaborate with Kadin as a private party.

He called on business people not to be afraid to report or even publicise business cases that violate the law.

"Hopefully, Kadin will not give up voicing if there is a violation of the law, especially business cases. Because it will be difficult if the private sector wants to change, but the law enforcers do not want to change," said Frank.

Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Arsjad Rasjid hopes that the future government will run smoothly and effectively, so that the business climate can be conducive. "So, it provides certainty for businesses and investors to run the wheels of the national economy," he said.

Arsjad emphasised that Kadin Indonesia is always ready to cooperate, collaborate, and provide support to ministers and agency heads in carrying out their duties in encouraging national economic growth.

"With strong synergy and cooperation between the government and the business world, Indonesia will be more resilient in facing global challenges and continue to work together, especially to achieve 8 per cent economic growth and the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045," Arsjad concluded.
