Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), together with the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), held the Indonesia-Singapore High-Level Business Dialogue themed “Advancing Digital Trade, Business Cooperation, and the Indonesia-Singapore Agenda Towards 2027” at Menara Kadin Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (September 2, 2026).

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Novyan Bakrie said the meeting discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support trade, making it broader, more efficient, faster, and providing greater market access.

“Ultimately, we want to ensure that we can conduct more trade through technology, at lower cost, more quickly, and with greater market access,” said Anindya, commonly known as Anin.

In addition to the use of AI in trade, Anin said the discussion also covered Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027. According to Anin, Kadin Indonesia supports efforts to strengthen ASEAN connectivity, openness to the global economy, and sustainability.

“We support making ASEAN more connected, more global, and also more sustainable,” he said.

Furthermore, Anin said Kadin Indonesia and SBF are planning to collaborate in organizing the Singapore Regional Business Forum in mid-2027.

“Of course, Kadin will be more than happy to support SBF there,” Anin said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of SBF Mark Lee said SBF has visited Indonesia three times over the past three months. According to him, the frequency of these visits reflects SBF’s confidence in Indonesia’s long-term economic fundamentals.

“We have been in Indonesia over the past three months and have visited three times. This is because we believe in Indonesia’s economic fundamentals in the long term,” Mark said.

On this visit, SBF brought representatives from Singapore’s business community across various sectors, including healthcare, retail, commodities, and plantations. Mark said there are still many opportunities for cooperation that can be developed between Singaporean and Indonesian businesses together with Kadin.

“We believe there are still many areas and opportunities for cooperation that we can pursue together with Kadin. We have started with an MoU and are now working closely to operationalize the Trade AI Advisor,” Mark said.

He said the cooperation would continue to be developed not only through the Trade AI Advisor, but also through the ASEAN agenda when Singapore assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027.

“When Singapore takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship next year, we intend to work and collaborate closely with our partners in Indonesia to advance relevant agendas that can create good jobs, both for the Indonesian economy and for the broader ASEAN economy,” he said.

In addition, SBF plans to organize the Singapore Business Regional Forum next year in collaboration with Kadin Indonesia.

Furthermore, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Cooperation and Investment at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Edi Prio Pambudi said the government would support preparations for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027.

According to Edi, Indonesia and Singapore have agreed to strengthen the regional global supply chain and increase intra-ASEAN trade.

“From the government side, we will provide support, particularly for preparations for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027. We have agreed to strengthen, in particular, the regional global supply chain, as well as supply chains within the region, and to increase trade within ASEAN itself,” Edi said.

He said strengthening regional cooperation is increasingly important amid the current global situation. According to him, countries in the region need to reinforce one another, particularly in ensuring energy security.

“As we know, given the current global situation, we need to strengthen one another, particularly in ensuring energy security, food supplies, and connectivity, especially through digitalization,” he said.

Edi also emphasized the importance of digitalization, particularly in creating employment opportunities for younger generations.

“We consider digitalization important because it will bring many benefits, particularly in creating opportunities for young people. We hope that through ASEAN, more opportunities will open up for young people to contribute and secure better employment,” Edi concluded.

Widjaja, Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Human Development, Culture and Sustainable Development Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Export Development Juan Permata Adoe, and Kadin Indonesia Deputy Chairman for Defense Affairs Andi Rachmat.
