Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) once again held its Kadin Monthly Economic Diplomatic Breakfast, featuring Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono as the keynote speaker, at Hotel Aryaduta Menteng in Central Jakarta on Friday (June 12, 2026).

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Novyan Bakrie emphasized that economic diplomacy is one of the key instruments for strengthening Indonesia’s trade and investment relations at the global level. According to Anindya, popularly known as Anin, the participation of the business community in the government’s economic diplomacy agenda has become increasingly open under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Foreign Minister Sugiono.

“This represents the best form of economic diplomacy. There are not many opportunities where the government and the business sector can work hand in hand to advance national economic interests. Kadin highly appreciates the government’s openness in involving the private sector in various international economic diplomacy initiatives,” said Anin.

As an example, Anin highlighted President Prabowo’s state visit to France, during which Kadin Indonesia was involved in a business-to-business (B2B) agenda. During the visit, Kadin and its French counterparts established the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council as a platform for long-term collaboration between the business communities of both countries.

According to Anin, the forum successfully brought together major companies from Indonesia and France with a combined market capitalization of approximately US$1.3 trillion. The meeting resulted in new business agreements worth US$3.5 billion, complementing the US$11 billion in investment commitments secured during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia in 2025.

“At Kadin, our focus is simple: increasing trade and investment. From there, various economic benefits will follow, including job creation and economic growth,” Anin said.

Furthermore, Anin noted that Kadin continues to develop a number of initiatives, including the We Buy From Indonesia program, which promotes Indonesian products already integrated into global supply chains, and the Kadin Export Academy, which aims to enhance the capacity of domestic businesses to enter export markets.

“We want to increase Indonesia’s participation in global supply chains, expand market access through various trade agreements, improve exporters’ capabilities, and strengthen economic data and intelligence as the basis for decision-making,” Anin stated.

On the same occasion, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that economic diplomacy is an integral part of the government’s efforts to fulfill its constitutional mandate of protecting all Indonesians and advancing public welfare.

According to Sugiono, the government continues to promote international economic cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit, and the pursuit of greater prosperity for the people.

“We seek to cooperate with all parties in the economic sphere based on the principles of mutual appreciation and mutual respect in order to achieve shared benefits that can be utilized for the prosperity and well-being of our people,” said Sugiono.

He also expressed appreciation for the Kadin Monthly Economic Diplomatic Breakfast, describing it as a strategic forum that supports the acceleration of various government economic programs.

Sugiono further noted that the strong interest shown by companies from around the world in investing and participating in Indonesia’s economic development reflects international confidence in the country’s economic prospects.

“This demonstrates a strong belief that Indonesia is a highly promising partner for cooperation. We have genuine growth potential supported by stable conditions. We hope to preserve and maintain this stability, security, and peace, as they come at a very high value,” Sugiono remarked.

Meanwhile, James T. Riady, Coordinating Vice Chairman for Foreign Affairs at Kadin Indonesia, stated that Foreign Minister Sugiono has played an important role in strengthening Indonesia’s international partnerships and translating President Prabowo’s vision into various strategic collaborations that support national interests.

During the event, James also highlighted growing global economic uncertainty driven by geopolitical tensions, shifts in global supply chains, inflationary pressures, and slowing global economic growth.

According to him, a number of countries are currently facing serious financial pressures, including declining foreign exchange reserves and increasing external financing needs. At the same time, global markets are witnessing a concentration of investment in a small number of technology companies driven by advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and the semiconductor industry.

“The world is facing a high degree of uncertainty. Therefore, domestic economic resilience has become increasingly important. Indonesia possesses significant advantages, including a large domestic market, abundant natural resources, a young population, and a growing middle class,” James said.

He added that housing, tourism, food security, downstream industrial development, manufacturing, and human capital development are strategic sectors that must continue to be strengthened in order to safeguard national economic resilience.

Nevertheless, James remains optimistic about Indonesia’s outlook. According to him, global investor interest in Indonesia remains very strong, coming from China, the United States, Europe, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East, and other regions around the world.

“Indonesia remains one of the world’s most compelling major growth stories. That is why forums such as this are essential for strengthening dialogue, partnerships, and collaboration in addressing global challenges,” James concluded.
