Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie, together with members of the Kadin Indonesia leadership, provincial Kadin chairpersons, as well as representatives of business associations and industry organizations, attended a Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) on the Draft Law on Kadin with the House of Representatives’ Legislative Body (Baleg) at the Nusantara I Building, Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (June 17, 2026).
Anindya, popularly known as Anin, said that the current Kadin Law No. 1 of 1987 has served as the organization’s foundation. However, the numerous changes that have taken place over the past several decades have created increasingly complex challenges and opportunities for the business community.
“With the economic situation full of both challenges and opportunities, driven by geopolitics, wars, changes brought about by digitalization, and of course the fact that we have moved far beyond the Reform era compared to 1987,” said Anin.
Anin explained that Kadin’s participation in the public hearing was aimed at conveying the various aspirations emerging from business actors across Indonesia. These aspirations reflect the need for the business sector to continue growing, developing, and adapting to changing times.
“Because we see that the essence is how the business community can continue to thrive, work together through mutual cooperation, and move up to the next level,” Anin said.
According to Anin, Kadin serves as the umbrella organization for the Indonesian business community, encompassing various associations, business organizations, and provincial Kadin chambers. As such, Kadin seeks to become a strategic partner of the government in promoting national economic growth.
“So the key point is how we can work together to support the government as a strategic partner. But most importantly, how Indonesia’s economy can continue to progress,” he said.
Anin further emphasized the importance of job creation as one of the main priorities of economic development. He noted that Indonesia needs approximately 4 to 5 million new jobs every year to accommodate the country’s growing workforce.
“Our young people who have just graduated—we must continue to increase trade and, of course, industrialization. That requires investment. But ultimately, the goal is to ensure that employment opportunities and entrepreneurs can continue to grow,” Anin said.
He also stressed that all discussions surrounding the proposed legislation are oriented toward Indonesia’s interests and the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. In his view, the direction of Indonesia’s economic development is already on the right track, although it still requires acceleration and modernization.
“Essentially, this is for Indonesia. It is about ensuring that what we aspire to—a business sector that continues to grow and prosper—can be achieved all the way to Golden Indonesia (2045), despite the many challenges. There are also many people who question where Indonesia is heading. But we believe the direction is already correct. It simply needs to be accelerated and modernized,” Anin concluded.
Among the Kadin Indonesia leaders present were Coordinating Vice Chairman for Organization, Communication and Regional Empowerment Erwin Aksa; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Food Affairs Mulyadi Jayabaya; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Foreign Affairs James T. Riady; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Infrastructure and Regional Development Carmelita Hartoto; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Investment, Downstream Industries, Energy and Environment Bobby Gafur Umar; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Social Affairs Nita Yudi; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Politics and Security Bambang Soesatyo; and Coordinating Vice Chairman for Law, Human Rights, and Facilities & Infrastructure M. Azis Syamsuddin.
Also in attendance were several provincial Kadin chairpersons, including Aceh Kadin Chairman Muhammad Iqbal Piyeung, West Sumatra Kadin Chairman Buchari Bachter, South Sumatra Kadin Chairman Affandi Udji, Bangka Belitung Kadin Chairman Ritchie Glen Yapranadi, Jakarta Kadin Chairwoman Diana Dewi, West Java Kadin Chairman Almer Faiq Rusydi, West Nusa Tenggara Kadin Chairman Faurani, Maluku Kadin Chairman Muhammad Armyn Syarif Latuconsina, West Sulawesi Kadin Chairwoman Zaneth Raodathul, and North Kalimantan Kadin Chairman Kilit Laing.
