Kadin Maluku Rapimprov Focuses on Economic Development and Strengthening MSMEs

In order to strengthen the synergy between Kadin in Maluku province, the business world and local governments, and support the vision of a more inclusive and collaborative Golden Indonesia 2045, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Maluku Province held a Provincial Leadership Meeting (Rapimprov) and Discussion Forum in 2024 at the Santika Premiere Hotel, Ambon City, Saturday (24/8/2024).

The Rapimprov carries the theme ‘Islands Province, Infrastructure Development, and the Role of the Business World’. In his speech, Chairman of Kadin Maluku, M.A.S Latuconsina emphasised that the Rapimprov emphasised the importance of synergy and the contribution of the business world in the development of Maluku, which is still facing major challenges such as poverty and unemployment.

‘Maluku belongs to all of us, not just one or two people. All Moluccans are responsible for the progress of this region,’ said Latuconsina.

According to him, the Business Forum aims to strengthen the existence of Kadin Maluku and provide strategic input for regional development, strengthen commitment to the development of MSMEs in Maluku. In addition, it is hoped that this event will provide great benefits for business people and economic development, and can attract investment to Maluku.

Likewise, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid in his speech also expressed his hope that the Maluku Kadin Provincial Leadership Meeting (Rapimprov) could be a place to synchronise and strengthen the synergy between the Maluku Provincial Kadin, Kadin Indonesia, and the business world. He emphasised the importance of collaboration to realise the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.

Arsjad appreciated Indonesia's economic growth which reached 5.05% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, with contributions from regional economies, including Maluku which grew by 3.12%. However, he emphasised the importance of increasing the rate of economic growth again.

‘We must be grateful that our economic growth is still relatively good amidst uncertain global economic dynamics. When compared to other countries such as the United States which only grew 2.8%, China 4.7%, and Singapore 2.9%, we should be proud,’ said Arsjad.

However, Arsjad also recognised that Indonesia still faces big challenges, especially in the industrial sector which is still constrained by infrastructure and technology.

‘Collaboration between the government, private sector, and society is needed to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth, so that all regions, including Maluku, can benefit,’ he added.

In his speech, Arsjad also highlighted the importance of strengthening synergy in the face of rampant illegal imports that harm domestic industries, especially MSMEs. He appreciated Kadin's steps that had moved quickly by holding an audience with the Minister of Trade and overseeing the issuance of Ministry of Trade Number 932 of 2024, where Kadin became part of the task force for the supervision of certain goods.

‘Kadin Maluku Province is also expected to play an active role and synergise with the local government. Maluku has a lot of potential, especially in the fisheries, minerals and energy sectors,’ he concluded
