Energy Transition is One of the Main Topics of ISF 2024

After successfully organising the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) last year, Kemenko Marves in collaboration with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will hold the same event on a larger scale.

It is planned to be held on 5-6 September 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) which will discuss at least nine major topics, including energy transition, green industry, biodiversity and nature conservation, sustainable living, and blue economy, as well as key enablers namely green financing & carbon pricing, technology, human capital, policy & international collaboration.

Energy transition is one of the topics that is expected to attract the most attention as Indonesia is making a transition in this direction after a long dependence on fossil fuels.

Deputy Chairperson for Maritime Affairs, Investment, and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Shinta Widjaja Kamdani said the business sector has a very significant contribution in the transition to a green economy.

"So the most important thing is to invite all parties, and here if you look at it in terms of business both at home and abroad, not only big business but starting from startups, all of them have also started to push the issue of sustainability," said Shinta.

Shinta explained that the issue of sustainability is also very important for the business world. She pointed out that in addition to protecting the earth, the demand from consumers for products that are more environmentally friendly makes these business actors inevitably have to practice various kinds of things to create a product that is more "green".

Therefore, the ISF 2024 event is expected to help all business actors to be able to implement Environmental Social Governance (ESG) standards in each company.

Furthermore, Shinta hopes that at the upcoming ISF 2024 event there will be more collaborations established as an important outcome of this international forum.

"In 2023, we managed to facilitate 6 MoUs including at that time, at IKN. This year, we are also planning to have MoUs, both private ones that will be submitted to be signed during the ISF. In addition, there will be showcasing of various projects, including site visits," he concluded.
