12th TVET Roundtable for Vocational Development Held Again

Vice Chairman of Kadin for Vocational and Certification, Adi Mahfudz and Wisnu Wibowo as Chairman of the Vocational Education Committee of Kadin attended the Extended 12th TVET Roundtable High Meeting organised by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Wednesday (28/2/2024). This activity was carried out in the context of bilateral cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Germany regarding vocational development, which is routinely held Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Roundtable meetings to discuss updates on cooperation developments and the latest issues on both sides.

The main objectives of the 12th TVET Roundtable were to gather information on ongoing collaborative projects in the TVET sector, map potential future collaborations, and facilitate more in-depth discussions to achieve national vocational strategies. The meeting aimed to initiate collaboration and support from various stakeholders in vocational development in Indonesia.

The partners and ministries/agencies involved in the TVET Collaboration Matrix include ILO, BMZ (GESIT), SECO (S4C & STED, RESD, GQSP), KfW, USAID, IHK Trier, World Bank (LISTRAF), ADB, Prospera, and AHK EKONID. These partners play a crucial role in supporting and implementing the various TVET strategies in Indonesia.

The main activities of development partners in the TVET Strategy Development section involve:
1. Developing an up-to-date Labour Market Information System.
2. Strengthening the role of industry associations in providing demand-led TVET.
3. Establish competency-based vocational training programmes.
4. Strengthen funding schemes for TVET implementation.
5. Monitor and evaluate TVET revitalisation.
6. Ensure the vocational education system is aligned with national standards and labour market demands.
7. Implement competency-based vocational training in line with labour market demand.
8. Establish effective vocational coordination institutions.
9. Establish a competency-based secondary vocational education system.

Kadin Indonesia and GIZ are preparing a continuation of cooperation with a focus on Green Jobs. The platform to be developed by Kadin is expected to be coordinated with the ministries/institutions involved. For example: labour market information platform with the Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Industry, while with the Ministry of Education and Culture the tracer study system.

Kadin Indonesia strongly supports activities that focus on improving the quality, relevance and effectiveness of TVET programs to meet labour market demands and contribute to the overall development of the vocational education sector in Indonesia in accordance with Presidential Regulation No.68/2022 on Revitalising Vocational Education and Vocational Training.
