The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), through the Kadin Regenerative Forest Business Hub (Kadin RFBH), in collaboration with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the British Embassy Jakarta, hosted the roundtable dialogue “Biodiversity Credit: Opportunities and Challenges in Implementing and Expanding Ecosystem Services Business in Indonesia” at the Mandarin Hotel Jakarta on April 14, 2025.

Home to more than 10% of the world’s biodiversity, Indonesia holds a vital role in global conservation efforts. However, land-use change and illegal activities continue to put immense pressure on its ecosystems—bringing serious ecological, social, and economic consequences.

Amid growing urgency for innovative conservation financing, Biodiversity Credit (BC) has emerged as a promising mechanism. It offers financial incentives to those engaged in habitat and species conservation, serving as a potential bridge between the economic sector and nature protection.

This roundtable aims to explore the current urgency and market landscape of biodiversity credits, examine the opportunities and challenges of ecosystem service businesses, and strengthen the role of stakeholders in shaping Indonesia’s biodiversity economy.
