"Weekend At Parapuar" Resmi Diluncurkan, Kadin Kabupaten Manggarai Barat Optimistis Bakal Dongkak Ekonomi Lokal

Labuan Bajo - The West Manggarai Regency Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in collaboration with the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF), the Ministry of Tourism, the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, and various stakeholders officially launched a new tourism program titled “Weekend at Parapuar” at Natas Parapuar, Labuan Bajo, on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Charles Angliwarman, Chairman of KADIN West Manggarai, stated that the launch aims to promote the development of mainland tourist destinations in Labuan Bajo, expanding beyond the region's well-known marine tourism in Komodo National Park.

Charles encouraged the public, business actors, as well as domestic and international tourists, to explore the beauty of Parapuar.

"Come to Parapuar, one of the most spectacular and exotic destinations with a refreshing natural environment and a 360-degree panoramic view. It’s absolutely stunning, you can see the airport, the harbor, and enjoy the best sunsets here," Charles said.

He added that the journey from Komodo Airport to Parapuar takes only about 15 minutes.

In addition to its natural beauty, visitors will also be treated to the region’s rich cultural heritage through traditional Manggarai dance performances and local culinary delights.

Charles expressed strong optimism that this initiative will bring significant economic benefits to the local community.

“We believe this will generate economic growth and greatly benefit the local population,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dwi Marhen Yono, President Director of BPOLBF, stated that the program will feature weekly performances showcasing Manggarai and Flores cultural arts every Saturday evening at Natas Parapuar.

According to Dwi, these performances will be held year-round to welcome tourists visiting Labuan Bajo.

He noted that in 2024, the number of international tourists visiting Labuan Bajo reached 211,000, and this figure is projected to increase to 500,000 in 2025.

Dwi hopes that “Weekend at Parapuar” will help extend tourists’ length of stay while also preserving local culture.

"Through these weekly cultural events, we hope to encourage longer stays, preserve our traditions, and stimulate the local economy, especially in the tourism and MSME sectors," Dwi concluded.
