Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie welcomed the visit of the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, at the Kadin Tower in South Jakarta on Monday (August 11, 2025).
The visit was held to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries during the Indonesia-Peru Business Forum 2025 themed Unlocking Bilateral Growth: Strengthening Indonesia-Peru Partnership Through CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement).
Anindya, commonly known as Anin, expressed his commitment to strengthening trade and investment relations with Peru through the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IP-CEPA), which is set to be signed soon.
“We are very enthusiastic about expanding cooperation with Peru because we see stability, growth, progressiveness, and a strong willingness to collaborate with Indonesia,” said Anin.
He highlighted the shared vision of maintaining macroeconomic discipline and prudence as a key foundation for building the partnership.
“This August, we will sign the IP-CEPA. Indonesia has also experienced stable growth of around 5% over the past 30 years, even reaching 5.2% in the last quarter despite the global economic slowdown,” Anin added.
Anin also appreciated Peru’s priority in infrastructure development, including ports, airports, and toll roads. According to him, Indonesia has similar experience over the past 15 years and is ready to share knowledge.
Furthermore, Anin emphasized Kadin’s role as the official forum for all business actors—from private companies, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to cooperatives in supporting the implementation of the cooperation.
“We aim to increase trade and investment, in sectors such as automotive, palm oil, and investments in Peru for import substitution, including mining if possible,” Anin said.
Beyond goods trade, Anin also highlighted opportunities in the food and renewable energy sectors. He revealed his fondness for Peruvian coffee and expressed enthusiasm for the entry of Peruvian blueberries and cocoa into Indonesia.
“That is just the beginning, and we must do much more,” he added.
Anin is optimistic that IP-CEPA will boost trade volume and bring substantial benefits to domestic businesses.
“(IP-CEPA) should be much bigger and extremely beneficial for our entrepreneurs,” he said.
Besides trade, Anin noted that Indonesian investments in Peru are also starting to grow, including from instant noodle companies and Freeport. Peru, he mentioned, is the second-largest producer of copper and gold in Latin America.
“We can be Peru’s navigator in ASEAN, and Peru can be our navigator in Latin America,” Anin concluded.
Meanwhile, President of the Republic of Peru Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra stated that in 2024, Indonesia became Peru’s 6th largest trading partner in Asia, with bilateral trade reaching 699.1 million Peruvian soles, up 23% compared to 2023.
“CEPA will be a key instrument to enhance and diversify trade. Peru is a stable and reliable partner,” said President Dina.
She invited Indonesian investors to seize opportunities in various strategic projects, including the logistics and industrial hub in Chancay, the new port in Callao, railway projects, as well as renewable energy and agriculture sectors.
“In my administration, we believe that national development is built through investment, trade openness, technology, cooperation, and future prospects,” President Dina emphasized.
On the same occasion, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti added that Indonesia-Peru trade value in 2024 reached USD 479 million with an average growth of 15% per year during 2020-2024.
Dyah Roro mentioned Indonesia’s main exports to Peru include motorcycles, cars, footwear, and palm oil, while imports from Peru consist of cocoa beans, berries, grapes, and fertilizers.
“Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, which presents important opportunities for Peruvian products, as well as for us to strengthen collaboration,” Dyah Roro concluded.
The meeting was also attended by the Kadin Indonesia leadership, including Deputy Chairperson for Food Coordination Mulyadi Jayabaya, Deputy Chairperson for Foreign Relations Bernardino M. Vega, and Deputy Chairperson for Investment Tony Wenas.
Representatives from the Republic of Peru present included Minister of Economy and Finance Raúl Pérez-Reyes Espejo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Desilu León, Minister of Agriculture Angel Manuel Manero Campos, and Peru’s Ambassador to Indonesia Luis Tsuboyama.
