This collaborative initiative marks a concrete step toward strengthening a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, enhancing the competitiveness of local avocado commodities, while also opening opportunities for downstream processing and exports of East Lampung’s leading agricultural products.

The key focus areas of the partnership include research assistance and innovation in productive avocado cultivation, the implementation of modern and environmentally friendly agricultural technologies, capacity building for farmer groups, the development of organic fertilizers and sustainable farming systems, improvements in avocado productivity and fruit quality, as well as preparation and assistance toward organic certification.

Vice Chairwoman for Agriculture of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and Chairwoman of NEXTANI Indonesia Association, Devi Erna Rachmawati, stated that this collaboration is part of broader efforts to strengthen food security, accelerate agricultural downstream development, and improve farmers’ welfare through research-driven innovation and strategic partnerships.

“We aim to promote modern, healthy, and sustainable agriculture. Through this collaboration, the development of organic avocado farming in East Lampung is expected to become a model for an integrated agricultural system from upstream to downstream, while also improving farmers’ welfare and strengthening the regional economy,” said Devi.

Devi further explained that the program also serves as an important momentum in encouraging the transformation of East Lampung’s agricultural sector toward a more modern, competitive, and sustainable agricultural system.

Meanwhile, Devi added that BRIN’s involvement is expected to provide technology- and research-based solutions to sustainably improve avocado productivity in accordance with organic farming standards.

“Through synergy between the government, research institutions, the business sector, and farmers, the East Lampung avocado area is expected to become one of Indonesia’s leading organic avocado production centers with high economic value and strong orientation toward both domestic and international markets,” Devi concluded.
