BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia Lead UK–Indonesia Investment Dialogue in London to Support the Implementation of the Economic Growth Partnership

London, January 20, 2026 - The British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham) Indonesia, in collaboration with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), reaffirmed their role in strengthening UK–Indonesia business engagement through the organization of the UK–Indonesia Business and Investment Forum in London. The forum served as a platform for dialogue between business leaders and policymakers to support the implementation of the UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership (SP) and the Economic Growth Partnership (EGP).

Held on January 20, 2026, at Lancaster House, the forum was chaired by Donny Donosepoetro OBE, Chairman of the Advisory Board of BritCham Indonesia, and attended by member companies of BritCham Indonesia. The meeting was graced by the presence of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, underscoring the critical role of the private sector in strengthening bilateral economic relations.

The forum brought together BritCham Indonesia member companies, including Standard Chartered, HSBC, bp, Babcock, Airbus, Mott MacDonald, Arup, and GE Vernova, as well as representatives from Ellips, Thales UK, and BAE Systems. This participation reflected broad cross-sector engagement, spanning energy and power generation, renewable energy, aerospace and defense, infrastructure, and high-technology manufacturing.

From the Indonesian side, the business community was represented by Kadin Indonesia alongside leading national companies, including Danantara, Bumi Resources, Medco, Emtek, APINDO, Lippo Group, Sampoerna, Djarum, and Sinarmas, highlighting the strong involvement of the private sector from both countries.

President Prabowo, accompanied by members of the Red and White Cabinet, opened an interactive dialogue session with business leaders. During this session, the President directly addressed questions related to investment prospects, regulatory priorities, and sectoral issues. The forum provided an opportunity for businesses to convey industry perspectives and practical input to policymakers, while also highlighting concrete opportunities in trade, industrial development, technology, and long-term investment, reaffirming Indonesia’s position as a competitive global investment destination.

“The Joint Statement between BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia in support of the implementation of the Economic Growth Partnership (EGP) and the inaugural establishment of the UK–Indonesia High-Level Business Council reflects the United Kingdom’s strong confidence in Indonesia’s economy and the high level of interest among UK businesses in deepening their engagement with Indonesia. As part of the broader program, the Business and Investment Forum at Lancaster House proceeded smoothly and successfully brought together Indonesian and British business leaders in open and constructive discussions. BritCham Indonesia is proud to have had the opportunity to lead this forum in support of strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries,” said Donny Donosepoetro OBE, Chairman of the Advisory Board of BritCham Indonesia and CEO of Standard Chartered Indonesia.

The meeting concluded with a group photo session at the Grand Staircase, symbolizing the strong and enduring engagement between the UK and Indonesian business communities.

Joint Statement and the Economic Growth Partnership

Prior to the UK–Indonesia Business and Investment Forum, BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia signed a Joint Statement on January 19, 2026, reflecting the shared commitment of both chambers to support the implementation of the UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership and the Economic Growth Partnership.

Chairman of BritCham Indonesia, Ian Betts, stated:

“BritCham Indonesia welcomes the launch of the UK–Indonesia Economic Growth Partnership, which strengthens the framework for cooperation in trade, investment, and regulatory affairs between the two countries. This partnership sends a strong signal of our shared commitment to creating a transparent, stable, and conducive business environment for long-term investment in both the UK and Indonesia.”

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Bakrie, added:

“Kadin Indonesia warmly welcomes the signing of the UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership, which reinforces the foundation for cooperation in trade, investment, and innovation. We look forward to close collaboration with BritCham and UK stakeholders to translate this momentum into concrete cooperation that supports Indonesia’s growth agenda.”

Both chambers also highlighted the significant potential for strengthening bilateral economic relations, as UK–Indonesia bilateral trade reached USD 2.78 billion in 2024 and has shown a steady upward trend since 2020, while UK investment realization in Indonesia amounted to USD 402.6 million as of the third quarter of 2025.

In the Joint Statement, BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia also agreed to establish the UK–Indonesia High-Level Business Council as a high-level dialogue platform to provide private sector input and develop coordinated recommendations to both governments in priority sectors.

The Economic Growth Partnership was signed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on behalf of the Government of Indonesia and UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle. The partnership aims to deepen trade cooperation in priority sectors such as clean energy, the digital economy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and healthcare. The signing was witnessed by HMA Dominic Jermey CVO OBE, British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, and H.E. Desra Percaya, Ambassador of Indonesia to the United Kingdom.
